LOS ANGELES, United States – Presley Gerber, the model and only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, has died at 27, his family representative said.
Gerber died Sunday, September 20, at a rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles, according to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. A cause of death had not been disclosed as of Monday, and an examination remained pending.
Allie Jenkins, a representative for Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, confirmed his death and asked for privacy on behalf of the family.
Gerber was the couple’s only son and the older brother of model and actress Kaia Gerber.
A modeling career that began in his teens
Born Presley Walker Gerber in Beverly Hills in 1999, Gerber entered modeling as a teenager.
He signed with IMG Models at 15 and made his runway debut in 2016 at a Moschino show in Los Angeles. He subsequently worked with fashion brands including Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, Celine, Bottega Veneta and Ralph Lauren.
His career also included commercial work with his mother. In 2018, Presley and Crawford appeared together in a recreation of Crawford’s famous 1992 Pepsi advertisement for Super Bowl 52.
The family remained a prominent presence in fashion, with Crawford’s career spanning decades and Kaia later establishing her own modeling and acting career.

Gerber spoke publicly about personal struggles
In recent years, Gerber became more open about mental health and substance-use struggles.
He discussed depression and other mental-health difficulties during a 2023 appearance on the Studio 22 podcast, saying he hoped his experience could help other people dealing with similar problems.
Kaia Gerber also discussed her brother’s struggles in an interview published shortly before his death, describing a long period of addiction within the family and praising his willingness to speak openly about what he was experiencing.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner had not publicly listed a cause as of Monday.

“The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” Jenkins said in a statement confirming the death.
Gerber’s death comes at a time when his family had increasingly spoken about his efforts to confront personal difficulties.
His sister had described him as someone who wanted to be open about his experiences rather than conceal them. Gerber had similarly spoken about wanting to help others who were struggling.
For the fashion industry, his death marks the loss of a model who began working professionally while still a teenager and built a career under the public attention that accompanied his family name.
