LOS ANGELES (Journos News) – Authorities in Los Angeles detained a woman on suspicion of attempted murder after multiple gunshots were fired outside the Beverly Hills–area home linked to global music star Rihanna, police confirmed Monday.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 1:15 p.m. Sunday near the gated property. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a 35-year-old woman was taken into custody later that day after investigators recovered a firearm. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Investigation Underway After Gunfire Report
Police were initially alerted after a caller reported shots fired in the neighborhood. Officer Charles Miller said responding officers located evidence of gunfire at the scene and began an investigation that resulted in the suspect’s arrest.
Authorities have booked the woman on suspicion of attempted murder. She remains in custody with bail set at $10 million, according to police. As of Monday, the local district attorney had not yet announced formal charges.
Investigators have not publicly confirmed whether Rihanna was present at the property at the time of the incident.
Property Ownership and Location Details
While police did not officially identify the residence, multiple local media outlets reported the home is associated with Rihanna. Public records indicate the property is owned by a trust managed by Evan Jehle, a member of the advisory board for the singer’s philanthropic organization, the Clara Lionel Foundation.
Television footage broadcast by local station KABC appeared to show several bullet holes in the front gate of the property.
Audio from police dispatch obtained by the outlet indicated officers were informed that approximately ten gunshots had been fired from a vehicle across the street from the residence.
No Confirmed Connection to the Artist
Investigators have not determined whether the suspect had any personal connection to Rihanna or why the property was targeted.
Representatives for the singer did not immediately respond to requests for comment from multiple news organizations.
Previous Security Incident at Another Property
The incident follows a separate security concern involving the artist several years ago. In 2018, a man was accused of breaking into a Hollywood Hills home previously owned by Rihanna and remaining inside the residence for hours.
The individual later pleaded no contest in 2019 to felony stalking and vandalism charges, as well as a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest. He received probation as part of the court ruling.
Rihanna’s Continuing Influence in Music and Business
Rihanna, a nine-time Grammy Award winner, remains one of the most commercially successful recording artists of the past two decades. Chart data tracked by Billboard shows she has achieved 14 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.
Among her best-known songs are Umbrella, We Found Love, Work and Disturbia.
Beyond music, the artist expanded into the beauty industry with the launch of Fenty Beauty in 2017, which has become a major global cosmetics brand.
Rihanna shares three children with rapper A$AP Rocky, including their daughter Rocki Irish Mayers, whose birth was announced in September.
Authorities said the investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
