Trump’s Gaza Plan Sparks Outrage Among Arab Leaders - Mohammed Salem/Reuters

Arab Nations Reject Trump’s Proposal to Relocate Gazans

A coalition of key Arab nations has strongly rejected any attempt to evict or resettle Palestinians from Gaza, following US President Donald Trump’s remarks about “cleaning out” the enclave and relocating its population to neighboring countries.

Firm Rejection of Forced Displacement

In a joint statement issued Saturday, the foreign ministers of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt reaffirmed their commitment to preserving Palestinian presence in their homeland and rebuilding Gaza.

Without directly referencing Trump’s comments, the ministers rejected any actions that threaten Palestinian rights, including:
* Settlement expansion
* Forced evictions
* Home demolitions
* Land annexation
* Direct expulsion or coerced migration

“We firmly reject any attempts to displace Palestinians or undermine their right to remain in their land,” the statement read after their meeting in Cairo.

Trump’s Controversial Remarks on Gaza

In January, Trump revealed that he had discussed with Jordan’s King Abdullah II the possibility of building housing in other Middle Eastern nations to accommodate over one million displaced Palestinians.

“I’d love for you to take on more,” Trump said he told the king.
“The whole Gaza Strip is a mess… almost everything’s demolished, people are dying. I’d rather work with Arab nations to build housing elsewhere where they could live in peace for a change.”

His remarks sparked widespread criticism, as forced displacement of Palestinians has long been a sensitive and deeply contested issue in the region.

Arab Ministers Call for Gaza Reconstruction

The joint statement from Arab leaders addressed multiple key issues regarding Gaza’s future, as the fragile ceasefire between Hamas and Israel allows for a broader assessment of the 15-month-long conflict’s impact.

The ministers:
? Praised the US for helping broker the ceasefire—credit claimed by both Trump and his predecessor, Joe Biden.
? Demanded Israel’s full withdrawal from Gaza and rejected any attempts to partition the Strip.
? Stressed the crucial role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA)—just days after Israel banned the agency’s operations.

Growing Regional Tensions

The rejection of Trump’s relocation proposal underscores growing tensions in Middle East diplomacy, particularly as Arab nations push for a lasting two-state solution while opposing any forced displacement of Palestinians.
