Bulgarian singer Dara received a large public استقبال in Sofia on Sunday after winning the 70th Eurovision Song Contest with her song “Bangaranga.” Hundreds of supporters gathered at the capital’s airport waving national flags as the 27-year-old artist returned home with the Eurovision trophy. The victory marked Bulgaria’s first-ever win in the competition and generated widespread national attention across the country.

The contest, held this weekend in Vienna, saw Dara secure 516 points from juries and public voting, finishing ahead of Israel and Romania. Eurovision organizers confirmed the result early Sunday, with the performance quickly becoming one of the competition’s most discussed moments online and across European media coverage.

National Celebration and Cultural Impact

Crowds at Sofia Airport greeted Dara with chants, flowers, and banners celebrating the singer’s historic achievement. Bulgarian political leaders, including President Rumen Radev, praised the win as a milestone for the country’s cultural visibility on the international stage.

Dara, whose full name is Darina Yotova, said she hoped the victory would create broader international opportunities for Bulgarian artists. According to Eurovision coverage, the upbeat dance anthem “Bangaranga” resonated strongly with both viewers and national juries during the final.

Eurovision Momentum

Industry observers noted that Bulgaria’s victory arrives during a period of renewed interest in Eurovision’s commercial and cultural influence across Europe. The contest generated significant digital engagement this year, while Dara’s performance gained traction across streaming and social media platforms following the final broadcast.

Officials in Sofia have already indicated that the city is prepared to host Eurovision 2027 following the country’s first title. Analysts expect the win to increase international attention on Bulgaria’s music industry and regional entertainment market in the months ahead.
