Shakira Cancels Lima Concert After Hospitalization
Hospitalization Forces Last-Minute Cancellation
Colombian superstar Shakira has canceled her Sunday concert in Lima, Peru, after being hospitalized with an abdominal condition. The singer announced the news via her Instagram and X accounts, expressing disappointment over missing the performance.
“I am very sad that I will not be able to take the stage today. I have been deeply emotional and excited about reuniting with my beloved Peruvian audience,” Shakira wrote.
Tour Plans Disrupted in Peru
Shakira arrived in Peru on Friday evening, preparing for two back-to-back shows on Sunday and Monday as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour. This marks the second stop on her Latin American tour, following two sold-out performances in Brazil last week.
Fans in Lima gave the singer an enthusiastic welcome, with large crowds gathering at the airport to greet her. On Saturday, she posted her gratitude, saying:
“Thank you for such an emotional welcome, Lima!”
New Date in the Works
Despite the health setback, Shakira remains hopeful about rescheduling the show.
“My plan is to perform this show as soon as possible. My team and the promoter are already working on a new date,” she assured fans.
A Tour Fueled by Heartfelt Music
Shakira is currently touring in support of her latest album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, which draws inspiration from her highly publicized divorce. The record features the global smash hit “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53“ and recently won Best Latin Pop Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
Upcoming Shows in North America
Following the Latin American leg, Shakira is set to take her tour to Canada and the U.S. in May, with concerts running through June. Fans worldwide remain eager for her return to the stage.
