Israel Targets Hamas Military Leader Mohammed Sinwar in Major Strike on Khan Younis Underground Site

On Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out a precise and impactful airstrike in Khan Younis, located in the southern Gaza Strip, targeting Mohammed Sinwar, the head of Hamas’ military wing.

According to intelligence assessments, Sinwar was believed to be inside an underground facility beneath the European Hospital in Khan Younis when the strike occurred. While the IDF and Israel’s internal security agency, Shin Bet, are still investigating whether Sinwar was killed, Palestinian sources report that six people died in the attack. Several other senior Hamas officials were also present at the site.

Mohammed Sinwar is the brother of Yahya Sinwar, the former Hamas military leader who was killed by the IDF north of Rafah last October in a separate targeted operation.

Continued Pressure on Hamas Leadership

This strike follows a recent IDF operation on Monday targeting senior Hamas operatives at a command and control center located in Nasser Hospital. The military described the site as a key location where Hamas planned and coordinated terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers.

Among those reported killed in Monday’s strike was Hassan Eslaiah, a Gazan “journalist” known for filming himself participating in the Hamas invasion of Israel on October 7, which marked the start of a deadly conflict.
