According to police in Winston-Salem, a North Carolina park shooting left two people dead and five others injured after what authorities described as a planned fight between teenagers escalated into gunfire. The incident occurred Sunday at a city park, with investigators confirming multiple victims and an active homicide investigation underway.

Investigation Details

Police said in a statement that officers responded to reports of gunfire at the park and found several individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency responders transported the injured to nearby hospitals, while two victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said the gathering had been arranged in advance, with a fight expected between groups of teenagers. Authorities allege that during the confrontation, at least one individual discharged a firearm, leading to multiple casualties.

Law enforcement officials have not publicly identified suspects or confirmed arrests as of the latest update. Investigators are reviewing evidence and interviewing witnesses to determine who was responsible for the shooting.

Charges & Legal Status

Police said no formal charges have been announced at this stage. Authorities indicated that the case remains under active investigation, and any potential charges would depend on the outcome of ongoing inquiries and evidence collection.

Authorities also said additional patrols may be deployed in public spaces as a precautionary measure.
