Trachtenberg never publicly disclosed any health conditions, but in January 2024, she addressed speculation about her well-being after fans commented on her Instagram posts.

The NYPD confirmed that officers responded to a 911 call at 1 Columbus Place in New York City around 8:00 a.m. Upon arrival, they found Trachtenberg unresponsive. Emergency medical services pronounced her deceased at the scene. Authorities do not suspect foul play.

Trachtenberg’s career began in childhood, starring in commercials before moving on to Nickelodeon’s The Adventures of Pete & Pete and Harriet the Spy. She also had a role on All My Children.
Her most iconic role came as Dawn Summers, the younger sister of Buffy, in the cult classic Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She later found further success as Georgina Sparks, a fan-favorite character on Gossip Girl.
Her final on-screen appearance came in 2023 when she reprised her role as Georgina in two episodes of the Gossip Girl reboot on Max.
