The latest Nepal Police operational update, issued at 05:00 Nepal Standard Time on September 2, reports 1,127 bodies recovered, 4,858 people missing and 6,541 people rescued. Police say 7,912 personnel are deployed across affected areas for search, rescue, relief distribution and management of recovered bodies.

India reported that 163 Indian nationals had been rescued and that a specialized 19-member forensic team was working with Nepalese authorities on DNA identification.

South Korea confirmed it would send a 44-member emergency relief team to Nepal to support search-and-rescue operations.

Radio Nepal reported that 21 of 102 bodies brought to Pokhara for identification have been identified and handed over to families.

Seventy-six unidentified bodies were placed in a managed burial area, while five remained at the mortuary for additional testing. DNA samples have been collected from the bodies to support future identification.
