$7,000 in Labubu Dolls Stolen During La Puente Store Burglary

Published: August 10, 2025, 14:30

A group of masked suspects stole approximately $7,000 worth of Labubu collectible dolls from a retail store in La Puente, California, early Wednesday morning, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The break-in, which left the store heavily damaged, has sparked concern among toy collectors and the local business community.

Early-Morning Theft in La Puente

Authorities said the burglary occurred at a store in La Puente, located about 18 miles (29 kilometers) east of downtown Los Angeles. Surveillance footage released by the business shows multiple individuals wearing hoodies and face coverings forcing their way into the shop. The suspects moved quickly through the aisles, gathering merchandise before carrying boxes out of the store.

Investigators reported that the group used a stolen Toyota Tacoma pickup truck during the burglary. The vehicle was recovered shortly after the incident, though no arrests have been announced. Sheriff’s officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and additional details are not yet available.

Store Owner Reports Total Loss of Labubu Inventory

The targeted store, identified as One Stop Sales, posted about the incident on Instagram, stating that all of its Labubu doll inventory had been taken. The business also reported significant damage inside the store, describing the aftermath as “trashed” and urging the public to help identify the suspects.

“We are still in shock,” the store wrote in its social media post. “They took everything, and our shop is destroyed.”

The surveillance video shared by the store has been widely circulated among collectors and community members in hopes of generating leads.

The Popularity of Labubu Dolls

Labubu dolls are a line of collectible art toys created by Hong Kong-born artist Kasing Lung. First introduced over a decade ago, the figures are known for their distinctive toothy grin and whimsical monster designs. Over the years, Labubu has gained a dedicated following among collectors worldwide, with limited-edition releases often selling out quickly.

The growing demand for Labubu figures has also made them a target for theft. While each individual doll may retail for a modest price, rare editions can command high resale values in the secondary market, sometimes reaching hundreds of dollars per piece.

Authorities Seek Public Assistance

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone with information about the burglary to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477 or online at lacrimestoppers.org.

Law enforcement officials emphasized that the stolen items are highly recognizable within the collector community and may surface for sale online or at swap meets. Collectors are advised to be cautious when purchasing Labubu dolls from unofficial sources and to report suspicious listings to authorities.

Impact on Local Business and Collector Market

The theft has dealt a heavy blow to One Stop Sales, which specializes in collectible toys and pop culture merchandise. Losing an entire inventory of a high-demand product line not only impacts revenue but also disrupts relationships with collectors and suppliers.

For many small businesses in niche markets, stocking popular collectibles like Labubu is a key part of staying competitive. The loss of such merchandise can take months, if not longer, to recover from—especially when tied to exclusive or limited releases.

Meanwhile, the incident serves as a reminder of the increasing risks associated with high-value, small-sized retail goods. Similar thefts targeting designer sneakers, trading cards, and limited-edition figurines have been reported across the United States in recent years.

Community Response

In the days following the burglary, members of the Los Angeles-area collector community have expressed support for One Stop Sales, sharing the store’s post and offering assistance. Social media comments have included pledges to help rebuild inventory and calls for heightened security measures at local shops.

While authorities continue to pursue leads, both the store and the sheriff’s department are hoping public awareness will aid in the recovery of the stolen items and the identification of those responsible.
