The Walking Dead Actress Kelley Mack Dies at 33 After Battle with Glioma

Published: August 5, 2025, 21:00 (U.S. Eastern Time)

Kelley Mack, the Ohio-born actress best known for her role in The Walking Dead, has passed away at the age of 33. The news was confirmed by her family through her official social media accounts and in a published obituary on Tuesday, August 5.

Mack, born Kelley Klebenow, died on August 2 after being diagnosed with glioma, a rare form of cancer affecting the central nervous system. According to her obituary, she passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.

Early Life and Education

Kelley Mack was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated from Hinsdale Central High School in 2010 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in cinematography from Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film in Orange, California, in 2014.

Her passion for storytelling began early. A video camera she received as a birthday gift as a child sparked her interest in filmmaking and performance. Not long after, she began appearing in commercials, setting the stage for her career in the entertainment industry.

Career Highlights

Mack built an impressive résumé, with 35 acting credits and five producing credits to her name. She gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of “Addy” in Season 9 of AMC’s The Walking Dead, which ran for 11 seasons from 2010 to 2022.

Her television work also included appearances as “Penelope Jacobs” in NBC’s Chicago Med (Season 8) and roles in FOX’s 9-1-1. On the big screen, she played “Alice” in Broadcast Signal Intrusion and “Wilda” in Delicate Arch, released in 2024.

In addition to acting in film and television, Mack was featured in national commercials for brands including Dr. Pepper, Ross Stores, Dairy Queen, and Chick-fil-A. More recently, she appeared alongside her mother, Kristen, in a Rakuten advertisement.
