Election 2024: Key States Still Undecided as Trump and Harris Win in Strongholds

Current Election Update

Former President Donald J. Trump has won early victories in Republican strongholds like Florida, Texas, and other red states. Vice President Kamala Harris has secured wins in Democratic strongholds, including New York, Illinois, and the Northeast.

Voting has now concluded in key battleground states such as Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Nevada, although major swing states are still awaiting final results. There were bomb threats in some areas, causing brief disruptions, though none were considered credible.

In a historic milestone, the Senate will now have two Black women serving at the same time: Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester from Delaware and Angela Alsobrooks from Maryland.

Our seasoned political correspondent, Jonathan Weisman, reflects on this significant night in U.S. politics.
