Amad’s Heroics Earn Man of the Match Honors in Thrilling European Night at Old Trafford

Amad Named Man of the Match Against PAOK

Amad was named Man of the Match after a brilliant performance in Manchester United’s 2-0 win over PAOK at Old Trafford. He was the clear favorite among fans, receiving an impressive 93% of the votes in our post-match poll.

Wearing the number 16 shirt, Amad scored both goals in the second half, securing United’s first European victory of the season at the Theatre of Dreams. He was a standout in the first half as well, showing creativity and energy in a scoreless opening period.

The game came alive early in the second half when Amad connected with a cross from Bruno Fernandes, cleverly directing a looping header over PAOK’s goalkeeper, Dominik Kotarski, and into the net via the inside of the left-hand post. This gave United a 1-0 lead.

Amad’s second goal came with just 13 minutes left. After pressing PAOK’s defense, he won the ball from former Chelsea player Abdul Baba Rahman, drove past him, and curled a stunning shot with his left foot into the goal from 35 yards out. This remarkable goal was Amad’s third of the season and his sixth overall, perfectly highlighting his skill and tenacity.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Amad expressed his delight in the victory, saying, “It’s been a long time since we won in Europe. Today we showed why we are one of the best teams. It was important to win today.”

He also shared his excitement about scoring twice, adding, “It is important to score every time. This season I have been unlucky, so I am happy to score two today. But the most important thing was to win. I like to celebrate with the fans and make people happy.”

Amad’s work off the ball also impressed fans. His relentless pressing, which helped him score his second goal, was a result of focused training. “It came from work we did in training. We have to press the opposing team,” he explained.

His first-half efforts nearly earned United a penalty after a challenge from Rahman, but the VAR check dismissed the appeals. Amad also set up Rasmus Hojlund for a header that was saved by Kotarski and drew another save himself with a powerful shot in the second half.

Amad’s remarkable performance earned him not only the fan-voted Man of the Match award on ManUtd.com and the United app but also TNT Sports’ equivalent award.

Congratulations to Amad on an outstanding performance and his well-deserved Man of the Match recognition!
