Heidi Klum Reigns as the ‘Queen of Halloween’ Once Again!

On October 31, Heidi Klum hosted her 23rd annual Halloween Party at New York’s Hard Rock Hotel, transforming the venue into a Halloween spectacle. Known for her over-the-top costumes each year, Klum, 51, appeared dressed as the iconic character E.T. from Steven Spielberg’s 1982 classic E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, alongside her husband, Tom Kaulitz, who donned a male version of the same look.

Explaining her choice, Klum told PEOPLE that she has always been fascinated by E.T., noting, “E.T. has been part of most of our lives. I’ve always been a big fan.” She added that dressing up as the beloved alien let her “think about the universe in a different way,” recalling how adorable E.T. was, especially in scenes where he dressed up.

Klum shared that she and Kaulitz began their Halloween prep early, starting makeup and costume work at 11 a.m. The New York Times reported that Klum’s costume featured a glowing fingertip—an homage to E.T.’s memorable scenes—and a motorized headpiece with moving eyes and mouth.

Klum wasn’t the only one inspired by E.T. Singer Janelle Monáe debuted her own E.T.-themed costume on Instagram on October 30. Monáe, 38, had reportedly been planning her costume for two years, initially working with a team to bring her idea to life, only to later find out someone else had chosen the same character.

On Wednesday, Klum shared that her final costume fittings were complete, teasing fans with a video on Instagram: “Just did my last fitting, and it’s going to be awesome. I hope!” On Halloween morning, she posted another video to kick off the festivities, saying, “Good morning, New York! It’s finally Halloween. This costume has been a year in the making.”

She encouraged fans to join in the fun, captioning her post, “Happy Halloween 🎃 👻💀👀 Bring it people! Show us your costumes!” Later, she shared a playful clip in bed with Kaulitz, asking him, “Are you ready to do Halloween with me? I love you.”

With yet another incredible costume, Klum continues to prove why she’s earned the title of the Halloween Queen.
