July 28, 2025, 16:00 EDT
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, the dark historical action RPG set in the late Ming Dynasty, features four distinct endings, each determined by your decisions and interactions throughout the game. From the game’s “bad” conclusion to its deeply hidden “true” ending, players must plan carefully, make strategic choices, and create critical backup saves to experience all possible outcomes.
In this detailed guide, we’ll walk you through how to unlock each of the four endings: Jarful of Medicine, Dream’s Sweet Deceit, Successor of the Bo, and Bound By Fate’s Threads. Be warned—spoilers ahead.
Overview: All Endings in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
There are four endings in the game, each granting a unique achievement:
- Jarful of Medicine (Bad Ending)
- Dream’s Sweet Deceit (Good Ending)
- Successor of the Bo (Secret Ending)
- Bound By Fate’s Threads (True Ending)
Unlocking these endings depends on key dialogue choices, side quests, and crucial decisions made across several late-game encounters. You can technically unlock all endings in a single playthrough by using manual backup saves, especially important due to the game’s automatic transition into New Game Plus after an ending sequence.
Can You Get All Endings in One Playthrough?
Yes—but only with preparation.
To access all endings without replaying the entire game multiple times, create manual backup saves before crucial decision points. For PC players, this means copying the game’s save directory:
Save File Location:
C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\Project_Plague\Saved
Steps:
- Copy the “Saved” folder and paste it elsewhere for safekeeping.
- After viewing an ending, replace the game’s “Saved” folder with your backup.
- At the main menu, select “Load Game” (not “Continue”) to resume from that point.
Critical Save Points:
- Worship’s Rise in Ruins: Annalum – Before agreeing or refusing the Storyteller.
- Burning Cave – Before speaking to Xuanyangzi.
- Bo Capital: Gate of Truth – After defeating the final boss but before interacting with the final gate.
How to Unlock the Jarful of Medicine (Bad Ending)
This is the most accessible and likely outcome for players following a straightforward path.
Steps:
- In Annalum, speak to the Storyteller and agree to help.
- On your way to or inside Burning Cave, find Xuanyangzi and give him the Jade Feather Chisel.
- Use the Bone Whistle to summon Xuanyangzi during the final boss fight (Dragon Emperor).
- After defeating the Dragon Emperor, proceed to Bo Capital.
- Defeat the Feathery Ambition final boss.
- Interact with the Gate of Truth to enter the Realm of Samsara, triggering the bad ending.
How to Unlock the Dream’s Sweet Deceit (Good Ending)
To earn this ending, you must acquire a special item called the Ring of Samsara – Rebirth.
Steps:
- Complete side quests for He Youzai and Fang Yao throughout the campaign.
- In Annalum, again agree to help the Storyteller.
- In Reverent Temple:
- Fang Yao gives you the Research Journal – Scrap 3.
- Give this to He Youzai to receive the Ring of Samsara – Effect.
- Continue to the Depths of the Capital shrine, where you’ll find the Mystery Gate.
- Select: “The wheel turns anew.”
- You’ll enter the Shrine Dwelling, defeat the optional Obsession Demon, and find an altar.
- Combine both items to create the Ring of Samsara – Rebirth.
- After defeating the Feathery Ambition boss, interact with the gate and choose the Realm of Dreams.
How to Unlock the Successor of the Bo (Secret Ending)
This lesser-known ending bypasses much of the Bo Capital sequence and introduces a separate path.
Steps:
- Speak to the Red-Clad Lady at each of these locations:
- Reverent Temple/Buddha Hills
- Doomwillow Beach
- Avian Dwelling
- At the Avian Dwelling shrine, agree with her to receive the Divine Blessing spell.
- In Annalum, refuse the Storyteller’s offer twice.
- Proceed to the Palace Pass Entrance and defeat the Bo Magus.
- The ending cinematic will play.
Note: Choosing this ending skips the Bo Capital entirely.
How to Unlock the Bound By Fate’s Threads (True Ending)
This ending requires the Ring of Samsara – Rebirth and a specific action before entering the final gate.
Steps:
- Load your backup save after defeating the final boss but before interacting with the gate.
- Open your inventory and use or discard the Ring of Samsara – Rebirth.
- With the ring no longer present, walk into the Gate of Truth.
- This will lead you to the Realm of Truth, unlocking the true ending.
Why Backup Saves Matter
After any ending concludes, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers pushes players into New Game Plus—no chance to backtrack. The available options—Causality Reversal, Continue, or Load Game—do not allow you to return to the pre-ending state. That’s why having a manual backup is the only way to efficiently access all endings in one playthrough.
Final Tips Before You Decide
- Explore side quests and complete all key interactions if you’re aiming for the good or true endings.
- Be mindful of dialogue choices with the Storyteller, Red-Clad Lady, Fang Yao, and He Youzai.
- Keep multiple backups if possible, especially near boss fights or dialogue forks.
- For boss strategies and additional item locations, consult a Wuchang: Fallen Feathers boss guide or item walkthrough.
Conclusion
Unlocking all four endings in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers isn’t overly complicated, but it demands attention to detail, backup saves, and specific side quests. Whether you’re aiming for the tragic fall into Samsara or the enlightenment of truth, your choices shape the path forward in this atmospheric action RPG set during the fall of the Ming Dynasty.
Stay prepared, explore thoroughly, and don’t forget to back up your progress before you take that final step into fate.
