Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri Crowned Miss World 2025 in India

In a dazzling night of grace, glamor, and global unity, Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri was crowned Miss World 2025 on Saturday, clinching the coveted title in front of a cheering crowd in Hyderabad, India.

The 72nd edition of the prestigious international pageant brought together 108 contestants from around the world. Among them, Hasset Dereje Admassu of Ethiopia emerged as the first runner-up, sharing the spotlight in a competition that celebrated diversity, intelligence, and compassion.

Chuangsri was crowned by outgoing titleholder Krystyna Pyszková, Miss World 2024, in an emotional passing of the torch.

A Star-Studded Event in Hyderabad

This year’s Miss World pageant was hosted in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad, marking India’s second consecutive year as the event’s host country. The ceremony was co-hosted by Miss World 2016 Stephanie del Valle and Indian television personality Sachiin Kumbhar, adding extra sparkle to the high-profile event.

India’s own Nandini Gupta, who had been considered a strong contender, made it to the top 20 finalists before exiting the competition.

A Proud Moment for Thailand

Opal’s win marks a significant moment for Thailand on the global stage. Her poise, intelligence, and stage presence captivated the judges and viewers alike, sealing her place in the history of Miss World winners.

India’s Legacy in Miss World

India remains one of the most successful countries in Miss World history, with six Indian women having worn the crown:

  • Reita Faria (1966) – the first Asian winner
  • Aishwarya Rai (1994)
  • Diana Hayden (1997)
  • Yukta Mookhey (1999)
  • Priyanka Chopra (2000)
  • Manushi Chhillar (2017)

Though the crown didn’t return to India this year, the nation’s proud legacy in the competition continues to inspire a new generation of young women.
