Steph Curry Makes History in Warriors’ Dominating Win Over 76ers

Steph Curry delivered one of the best performances of his illustrious career on Thursday night, leading the Golden State Warriors to a commanding 139-105 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.

In a game that saw Curry shine like never before, the two-time NBA MVP posted an impressive stat line of 30 points, 10 assists, and 6 rebounds. But it wasn’t just his scoring that made headlines – Curry made NBA history by becoming the first player ever to go 8-for-8 on three-pointers while also recording double-digit assists in the same game.

The eight perfect three-pointers were not only a career best for Curry but also just one short of the NBA record held by Latrell Sprewell, Jalen Brunson, and Ben Gordon, who all accomplished it twice.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was full of praise for Curry, saying, “He deserves these nights. Everything he does for us and endures, it’s so fun to see him do this. Our fans and our coaches, we’re all spoiled watching him play night after night. We need to cherish these nights. He’s not going to be around forever. He is one of the most beautiful basketball players who’s ever lived, and we’re lucky to be watching him.”

What makes Curry’s performance even more impressive is the fact that he played through a sprained thumb. Teammate Draymond Green revealed that Curry’s injury had even prevented him from using his right hand in practice just the day before the game.

“Sometimes, when you have a little injury or something random, it forces you to focus a little bit,” Curry explained. “I didn’t get many attempts in the first half, but all four of them were really good, in-rhythm shots. From there, it’s just a matter of flowing off of the joy of things going our way.”

In addition to Curry’s historic performance, the Warriors had strong contributions from their bench. Jonathan Kuminga added 20 points, while Green, Dennis Schröder, and Andrew Wiggins each chipped in 15. Seven Warriors players finished with double-digit points on the night.

For the 76ers, Joel Embiid led the way with a double-double, scoring 28 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, along with two blocks.

The win was especially crucial for the Warriors, who had started the season strong with a 12-3 record but struggled in recent weeks, losing 13 of their next 17 games. With this victory, they now stand at 17-16, holding the 10th spot in the Western Conference.

On the other hand, the 76ers continue to face difficulties, now sitting at 13-19 and 11th in the Eastern Conference.
