Adele’s Tearful Goodbye to Vegas: “I Don’t Know When I’ll Perform Again

Adele Bids Tearful Farewell to Vegas Residency, Hints at Hiatus

British singing sensation Adele gave an emotional goodbye on Saturday as she wrapped up her two-year Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace. The 100th and final show marked the end of a remarkable chapter for the Grammy-winning artist, who expressed both sadness and gratitude during the performance.

“I’m so sad this residency is over, but I’m so glad that it happened,” Adele told her audience tearfully. “I will miss it terribly, I will miss you terribly. I don’t know when I next want to perform again.”

A Rollercoaster Residency

Initially set to begin in January 2022, the residency faced a rocky start when Adele postponed the opening just 24 hours before the first show due to a COVID outbreak among production staff and delays in set construction. The residency eventually kicked off later that year, with Adele performing every Friday and Saturday at the 4,000-seat Colosseum Theatre.

The residency was filled with unforgettable moments, from Adele bursting into tears after spotting her idol, Celine Dion, in the audience, to her defending an enthusiastic fan who was told to sit down during a performance.

However, there were also challenging moments. In one instance, Adele scolded an audience member for making a derogatory comment about Pride, calling their behavior “ridiculous” and urging them to “shut up.” Reflecting on the incident, she admitted, “I’m old and grumpy now,” but stood firm in her stance.

Taking a Break from Music

Throughout her time in Vegas, Adele hinted at feeling emotionally drained. Earlier this year, she announced plans to take a “big break” from music once her residency ended.

“My tank is quite empty at the minute,” Adele shared in an interview with German broadcaster ZDF. “I don’t have any plans for new music at all. I want a big break after all this and I think I want to do other creative things for a little while.”

Adele also opened up about her struggles with fame, admitting she misses the anonymity of her pre-fame life. “The fame side of it, I absolutely hate,” she said, though she acknowledged that the ability to create music and connect with audiences is a privilege she deeply values.

Plans Beyond Music

Looking ahead, Adele has set her sights on education. She previously revealed her desire to study for an English Literature degree after completing her Vegas residency. “If I hadn’t made it singing, I think I would be an English lit teacher,” she said during a Q&A session in Los Angeles.

Adele plans to pursue the degree online, with a goal to start in 2025. “That’s my plan,” she said. “Just to get the qualification.”

Legacy of Hits

Known for chart-topping songs like Rolling In The Deep, Hello, Someone Like You, and Easy On Me, Adele’s music has resonated deeply with fans worldwide. While her future performances remain uncertain, her impact on the music industry remains undeniable.

As the curtain closes on her Vegas chapter, Adele leaves fans wondering when they’ll hear her powerful voice again, but for now, she’s focused on rest, reflection, and new creative pursuits.
