WASHINGTON (TNND) — Former President Donald Trump reflected on his inaugural day in the White House during a Friday appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” describing it as a “surreal” experience.
In this highly anticipated episode, which spanned three hours, Rogan prompted Trump to share his emotions as he entered the iconic residence in January 2017.
“It was incredibly surreal… When I was shot, that didn’t feel surreal. That should have been surreal,” Trump remarked, referencing the first assassination attempt against him in July.
“As I drove down Pennsylvania Avenue, I was struck by the sheer number of motorcycles, police, and military personnel… I wanted to step out and wave to the crowd, but I realized that wouldn’t have been wise,” he continued. “Yet, I genuinely felt—it’s hard to describe—the love was overwhelming.”
Rogan further inquired about Trump’s feelings regarding his capacity to govern, given that he had never held an elected office prior to assuming the presidency. “This is your first experience in governance… and now you find yourself inside the White House,” Rogan pointed out.
“The most significant aspect was that initial moment of being within this revered, truly revered place,” Trump replied. “For me, that was the defining experience; it was profoundly surreal.”
