Bishop T.D. Jakes Experiences Health Scare During Sunday Sermon
A Sunday service at The Potter’s House of Dallas took an unexpected turn when Bishop T.D. Jakes, the renowned pastor and motivational speaker, experienced a health incident during his sermon.
The 67-year-old bishop was reflecting on the joys of preaching and its transformative power when the incident occurred. “I still love to preach. I ain’t tired of preaching. I miss you,” Jakes told the congregation. He continued by comparing preaching to visiting someone in the hospital, where the visitor often leaves more encouraged than the patient. “You think you’re giving out something, but you’re getting back more than you gave,” he shared.
Jakes then quoted Psalm 19:14, saying:
“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, my redeemer. Let them go in peace.”
Moments later, he fell silent and appeared to have spasms while seated. Concerned attendees rushed to assist him on stage, while another speaker urged the congregation to pray for the bishop as he received care.
Later that day, Jakes’ team posted an update on social media to reassure the public:
“During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message. He is now stable and under the care of medical professionals.”
The statement also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support:
“The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community. Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers.”
Jakes, a widely respected spiritual leader and author, continues to inspire millions with his ministry, and his congregation remains hopeful for his swift recovery.
