When Can You Expect Your 2024 Spotify Wrapped?
NEW YORK (AP) — It’s that time of year again: Spotify is preparing to unveil its annual Wrapped, the personalized summary of your listening habits and highlights from the year.
Spotify has been offering these year-in-review breakdowns since 2016, and each year it’s grown in popularity, becoming a major event and social media phenomenon. In fact, Spotify called its 2023 Wrapped the “biggest ever,” reaching millions of listeners and offering even more in-depth insights into their data. So, what can we expect from 2024’s edition? Here’s what you need to know.
What Is Spotify Wrapped?
Spotify Wrapped is an interactive, personalized recap of your listening trends throughout the year. It showcases your top artists, songs, albums, genres, and podcasts, all bundled into a shareable and fun experience.
The event has become a social media sensation, with users eagerly sharing their Wrapped results with friends and followers. Past Wrapped campaigns have included unique features, like highlighting whether you’re among an artist’s top listeners or providing a playlist of your top 100 songs of the year for easy access.
Spotify also creates playlists showcasing national and global listening trends, with the top-streamed artists and songs. For example, in 2023, Taylor Swift dethroned Bad Bunny as Spotify’s most-streamed artist after three years.
Each year brings something new: In 2019, Wrapped included a decade summary of users’ streaming trends, and last year, it matched listeners to a “Sound Town” based on their musical preferences, comparing them with users around the world.
When Will Spotify Wrapped Be Released?
While Spotify has yet to confirm the exact release date for 2024, Wrapped typically drops after Thanksgiving, between Nov. 30 and Dec. 6.
There’s always speculation on social media about when Spotify stops collecting data for Wrapped, with some users guessing it ends on October 31st. However, Spotify has cleared up the confusion by confirming that it doesn’t stop collecting data on that date.
Spotify has not yet commented on the exact cut-off date for data collection, but the anticipation builds as we approach the end of the year.
How to Access Your Spotify Wrapped
When Wrapped goes live, your Spotify account will prompt you to check out your personalized recap. You can view it through the Spotify app on your smartphone or by logging into the Spotify website. The best part? Wrapped is available to both Premium and non-Premium users.
What Else Can I Learn from My Spotify Data?
If you want to dive deeper into your Wrapped results, several third-party sites let you connect your Spotify account to analyze your data in fun ways. Some popular sites include:
- How Bad is Your Spotify? — An AI bot that humorously judges your music taste.
- Receiptify — A tool that generates a graphic resembling a receipt, listing your top songs.
- Instafest — Creates a personalized “music festival” lineup based on your top artists.
- How NPRCore Are You? — Compares your taste in music to NPR Music’s.
What If I Don’t Have Spotify?
Other major streaming platforms have also introduced their own year-end summaries. For example, Apple Music’s Replay gives users a year-in-review of their listening habits, as well as monthly summaries throughout the year. This offers a more ongoing look at your listening trends compared to Spotify’s one-time Wrapped.
YouTube Music has a similar year-end recap, along with seasonal updates, and released its own annual recap earlier this month.
Whether you’re a Spotify user or prefer another service, the year-end recaps have become a fun way to reflect on your musical journey and share your favorites with friends!
