Victor Wembanyama Becomes 4th-Youngest NBA Player to Score 50 Points
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Victor Wembanyama delivered an electrifying performance, scoring a career-high 50 points to propel the San Antonio Spurs to a 139-130 victory over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night. The 20-year-old phenom also set a personal best by hitting eight 3-pointers, helping San Antonio secure its second consecutive win.
Wembanyama’s achievement places him among the youngest players in NBA history to reach the 50-point mark. At 20 years and 314 days, he joins an elite group, trailing only Brandon Jennings, LeBron James, and Devin Booker in age when reaching this milestone.
In addition to his personal milestone, Wembanyama became the eighth player in Spurs franchise history to score 50 or more points in a game. The franchise’s record remains with David Robinson, who scored 71 points against the Los Angeles Clippers on April 24, 1994.
Washington’s Jordan Poole led his team with 42 points, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Wizards from dropping their sixth straight game.
This latest performance builds on Wembanyama’s recent scoring streak. He previously set his career high with 49 points in an overtime victory over New York and has now made six or more 3-pointers in three consecutive games.
