Taylor Swift Becomes the Most-Decorated Billboard Music Awards Winner

Taylor Swift has set yet another record, this time making history at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards (BBMA). On Thursday night, Swift was crowned the most-decorated BBMA winner of all time, with an astonishing 49 career trophies.

The “Fortnight” singer swept the night by winning 10 awards, including major categories such as Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Hot 100 Songwriter, Top Streaming Songs Artist, and Top Billboard 200 Album.

Breaking the Tie with Drake

Heading into the awards show, Swift and Drake were tied with 39 wins each. While Drake added three more awards to his collection, bringing his total to 42, Swift’s dominant performance pushed her far ahead.

Swift’s Gratitude

In a heartfelt pre-recorded acceptance speech, Swift thanked her fans and supporters for their dedication. “Thank you to Billboard and to all of you who care about our albums and come see us in concert,” she said. Reflecting on her record-breaking year, she added, “Everything with the Eras Tour and The Tortured Poets Department has been beyond my wildest dreams. It means the world to me that you’ve embraced what I create and care so deeply about my music.”

Swift, who turns 35 on Friday, called the awards “the nicest early birthday present” she could have asked for. “It’s exactly what I wanted,” she concluded with a smile.

A Reign on Billboard’s Charts

Swift’s domination of the Billboard charts has been especially remarkable in recent years.

  • In 2022, she became the first artist to occupy the entire Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 with tracks from her album Midnights.
  • Earlier this year, she shattered her own record by claiming the top 14 spots on the Hot 100 following the release of The Tortured Poets Department.
  • TTPD held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart for 16 weeks, her longest reign to date.
  • She also became the only living artist to have five albums in the Billboard 200 Top 10 simultaneously in 2023.

A Star-Studded Evening

The 2024 Billboard Music Awards, hosted by comedian and actor Michelle Buteau, featured electrifying performances by Coldplay, Linkin Park, Shaboozey, and more. The ceremony aired live on FOX, celebrating the year’s biggest achievements in music.

With this new milestone, Taylor Swift solidifies her place as one of the most influential and celebrated artists in music history.
