Former Ohio State and Penn State WR Julian Fleming Seriously Injured in Tragic ATV Crash That Killed Girlfriend

Former Ohio State and Penn State wide receiver Julian Fleming was seriously injured Friday evening in a devastating ATV accident in Pennsylvania that took the life of his girlfriend, Alyssa Boyd.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred just after 8 p.m. when Fleming was driving the ATV with Boyd as a passenger. Suddenly, a deer jumped into their path, causing a collision that changed their lives forever.

Details of the Crash

Police reports confirmed that neither Fleming nor Boyd were wearing helmets or safety gear at the time of the accident. Fleming sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Guthrie Troy Community Hospital for treatment. Tragically, Boyd, 23, suffered extensive injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities found a recently deceased deer nearby, matching the damage to the ATV.

Remembering Julian Fleming’s Football Journey

Julian Fleming, 24, is no stranger to the spotlight. A Pennsylvania native and highly touted recruit, Fleming was a five-star prospect in the 2020 class. Ranked as the No. 14 overall player nationally and the top wide receiver recruit, he originally committed to Ohio State in May 2019.

Fleming played four seasons with the Buckeyes, recording 79 receptions for 963 yards and seven touchdowns. In 2024, he transferred to Penn State, where he added 14 catches for 176 yards and a touchdown.

His standout college season came in 2022, with 34 receptions, 533 yards, and six touchdowns, ranking third on Ohio State behind standout receivers Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka.

A Community in Mourning

The news of the crash has sent shockwaves through the football community and beyond, as friends, fans, and teammates rally to support Fleming during this difficult time. Alyssa Boyd, remembered fondly by those who knew her, leaves behind a legacy of love and heartbreak.

This tragic accident is a sobering reminder of the importance of safety precautions and the fragility of life. Our thoughts are with Julian Fleming and all those affected by this heartbreaking event.

Car Crashes Into Illinois After-School Program, Killing 4 Children in Chatham Tragedy

Driver’s motive unclear as police say crash does not appear to be targeted; community mourns young lives lost

CHATHAM, Ill. — A devastating crash at an Illinois after-school program has left four young people dead and several others injured after a car barreled through a building in the quiet town of Chatham on Monday afternoon. Authorities said Tuesday the crash does not appear to have been intentional.

Police confirmed the tragic loss of two 7-year-olds, an 8-year-old, and an 18-year-old. Six more children were hospitalized, with one child currently in critical condition.

The crash struck the Youth Needing Other Things Outdoors (YNOTO) facility, which runs after-school and summer programs for local children in Chatham, a small city just south of Springfield.

The driver, whose identity has not been released, was unharmed in the crash and taken to a hospital for medical evaluation. Police have not disclosed whether the driver has been arrested. Toxicology reports are pending, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Despite the scale of the incident, Chatham police stated there is no indication the act was targeted or deliberate.

“This appears to be a tragic accident, not a planned attack,” police said during a press briefing Tuesday morning.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker expressed deep condolences in a public statement, calling the event “horrific” and offering state support to grieving families:

“My heart is heavy for these families and the unimaginable grief they’re experiencing — something that no parent should ever have to endure.”

Local police, visibly shaken, asked the public to keep the victims and their families in their thoughts. As of Monday night, roads around the crash site remained closed, with flashing lights from emergency vehicles illuminating the somber scene.

The community of Chatham quickly began to show solidarity. Residents and supporters across social media changed their profile pictures to an image of a red ribbon with the words Chatham Strong, symbolizing unity and grief.

The Chatham Police Department posted on Facebook:

“A terrible tragedy has occurred here that has affected all of us. Please keep these families in your prayers.”

The incident comes just two days after a separate car-ramming tragedy in Vancouver, British Columbia, where a vehicle drove into a crowd during a Filipino heritage event, killing 11 people. While unrelated, the two events highlight growing global concern over vehicle-related mass casualty incidents.

Helicopter Crash Claims Lives of Siemens Executive, Family, and Pilot: Here’s What We Know

A tragic helicopter crash on Thursday claimed the lives of a Siemens executive, his family, and their pilot, turning what was meant to be a scenic family outing into a disaster. The helicopter, carrying six people, including three children, crashed into the Hudson River after a 16-minute flight over Manhattan’s iconic skyline.

The helicopter had just taken off from Manhattan’s downtown heliport at 2:59 p.m. The flight path was a familiar one: circling the Statue of Liberty, gliding up the Hudson River towards the George Washington Bridge, and then turning south along the New Jersey shoreline. But, within minutes of making the turn south, disaster struck. The helicopter lost control and plunged into the water near Pier A Park in Hoboken, New Jersey.

Witnesses watched in horror as the aircraft flipped and spiraled in midair before crashing. Sarah Jane Raymond Ryer, who saw the crash unfold, described seeing the helicopter’s rotor blades separate from the aircraft and fly through the air. Other onlookers reported hearing a loud noise and saw black particles scattering in the air before emergency vehicles rushed to the scene.

The victims included Agustín Escobar, 49, a top executive at Siemens Mobility, and his wife, Mercè Camprubí Montal. The couple was traveling with their three children. Escobar served as CEO of Rail Infrastructure at Siemens Mobility, a division of the global technology giant Siemens, while Camprubí worked as a global commercialization manager at Siemens Energy.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic helicopter crash,” said a spokesperson from Siemens Mobility. “Our heartfelt condolences go out to all their loved ones.” Spain’s Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, also expressed his condolences, calling the incident “an unimaginable tragedy.”

In addition to the family, the pilot was also killed, though their identity has yet to be released by authorities.

While the cause of the crash remains unclear, eyewitnesses reported that the helicopter appeared to stop midair before pieces of the aircraft broke off, leading to the tragic descent. At the time of the crash, visibility was clear at 10 miles, though the weather was cloudy with winds reaching 25 mph.

The helicopter’s fuselage was recovered from the river Thursday evening, with dive operations continuing into the next day. Emergency responders from the NYPD and NYC Fire Department pulled six people from the water. Sadly, four were pronounced dead at the scene, while two children were later confirmed dead at a nearby hospital.

The helicopter involved in Thursday’s crash had a history of safety issues. In 2015, a similar model operated by the same company was forced to land due to mechanical issues, with an FAA inspection revealing potential structural problems. In 2013, another emergency landing occurred after a mechanical failure. These incidents raised concerns about the safety record of the helicopter company, which had also faced prior investigations for safety violations.

Michael Roth, CEO of the company operating the helicopter, expressed his devastation over the tragedy. “I’m a father, a grandfather, and my wife hasn’t stopped crying since this afternoon,” he told CNN. However, Roth declined to comment on the helicopter’s maintenance records, as those details remain under investigation.

The Bell 206L-4 LongRanger IV, built in 2004, was certified as airworthy in 2016, with its certification set to remain valid until 2029. However, the FAA had issued airworthiness directives for the model in 2022 and 2023 due to concerns about the tail rotor and main rotor blades. These directives required testing and potential replacement of parts, particularly after a previous Bell 206L helicopter experienced tail rotor failure in 2023.

It remains unclear if these issues contributed to the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are actively investigating the crash. NTSB has deployed a team to the site to assess the wreckage and review the helicopter’s maintenance records. Both agencies are looking into whether the aircraft’s maintenance history, weather conditions, or mechanical failure played a role in the crash.

This tragedy has left the Siemens community and the public in mourning, with officials promising a thorough investigation to uncover the full details behind this devastating accident.

As authorities work to piece together what happened, the tragic loss of Agustín Escobar, Mercè Camprubí Montal, their children, and the pilot has sent shockwaves through the community. Siemens, along with the Spanish and New York City authorities, have offered their condolences to the families and loved ones affected by the crash.

Spanish Tourist Family Among 6 Killed in Tragic NYC Helicopter Crash Over Hudson River

A sightseeing trip turned tragic on Thursday when a helicopter carrying six people—including a Spanish tourist family—crashed into the Hudson River between Manhattan and New Jersey, killing all on board.

Time of crash: Around 3:00 PM

Aircraft: Bell 206 helicopter

Location: Hudson River, near the Holland Tunnel ventilation pier

Fatalities: All six onboard confirmed dead

Victims: Included a family visiting from Spain

New York City Mayor Eric Adams confirmed that the victims’ bodies were recovered shortly after the crash. The flight had departed from a downtown heliport just minutes before disaster struck.

Eyewitnesses painted a harrowing picture of the crash:

“It was falling apart in the sky,” said Bruce Wall, who saw the helicopter’s tail and rotor detach midair. “The propeller kept spinning, but it wasn’t attached to anything anymore.”

Across the river in Hoboken, Lesly Camacho was working at a restaurant when she saw the helicopter spinning out of control:

“There was smoke, and it was spinning really fast before hitting the water hard,” she recalled during a phone interview.

Footage shared on social media showed fragments of the chopper splashing down, while the main body of the helicopter flipped and sank. Emergency boats rushed to the scene as the aircraft quickly submerged.

Despite overcast skies, visibility was clear at the time of the crash. Rescue efforts were hampered by the river’s chilling 45-degree temperatures.

The Federal Aviation Administration identified the helicopter as a Bell 206—a widely used model in commercial, news, and government aviation. Originally developed for the U.S. Army, thousands of Bell 206 helicopters have since been adapted for civilian use.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched a full investigation into the cause of the crash.

Emergency crews responded swiftly, deploying from a maintenance pier along the New Jersey side near the Holland Tunnel. Fire trucks and flashing emergency vehicles lined the waterfront streets as responders coordinated efforts.

The skies above Manhattan are bustling with aerial activity—between corporate jets, sightseeing flights, and media helicopters. Unfortunately, accidents like this are not unprecedented:

In 2009, a small plane and tourist helicopter collided over the Hudson, killing nine people.

In 2018, a chartered helicopter offering “open door” views crashed into the East River, killing five.

Just this year, a medical transport plane crash in Philadelphia claimed seven lives, days after a deadly midair collision in Washington.

These tragic events have intensified concerns over flight safety, particularly with the high volume of recreational and commercial air traffic above New York City.

Medical Transport Jet Crashes in Philadelphia Minutes After Takeoff: NTSB Report

Tragic Incident Near Philadelphia Mall

A small medical transport jet, carrying a child, her mother, and four crew members, crashed in a fiery “high-impact” accident near a busy Philadelphia mall just moments after takeoff on Friday evening.

The Learjet 55, operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, departed from Northeast Philadelphia Airport at 6:06 p.m., climbing to approximately 1,500 feet before rapidly descending. Less than a minute after takeoff, the jet crashed, according to National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigator Bill Hicks.

Casualties and Injuries

All six people aboard—including the child, her mother, and four crew members—died in the crash.

The child had just received care at Shriners Hospital in Philadelphia and was being transported home.

All victims on board were Mexican citizens, according to the Mexican government.

One person in a vehicle on the ground also died.

At least 19 others—including bystanders in parking lots, cars, and nearby homes—were injured.

No Distress Call Before Crash

Investigators revealed that there was no indication of a problem radioed from the flight deck to Air Traffic Control before the crash.

“In fact, in the recording that we have, there is an attempt by air traffic controllers to get a response from the flight crew, but they didn’t receive one,” said NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy.

Debris and Damage Spread Across City Blocks

The “high-impact” crash left debris scattered across four to five city blocks.

Investigators have yet to recover the jet’s black box, which may be damaged or destroyed.

At least five homes caught fire in the aftermath, Philadelphia officials reported.

Residents and business owners who come across aircraft debris are urged to email the NTSB at witness@ntsb.gov or call 911.

Investigation Underway

The NTSB and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have launched investigations.
The NTSB chair stated that the investigation will take several days or even weeks to collect and analyze all debris.

Another Aviation Disaster Days Earlier

This tragedy comes just two days after an Army Black Hawk helicopter collided with a regional American Airlines jet near Reagan National Airport, resulting in 67 fatalities.

Despite the back-to-back aviation disasters, Homendy assured the public that her agency is well-equipped to handle both investigations simultaneously.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Speaks Out

In a statement on social media platform X, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy called the recent crashes a “heart-wrenching week.”

“We’re not going to have answers right away,” he said. “It’s going to take time. But as I get those answers, I’m going to share them with all of you.”

Plane Crash in Fullerton Leaves Two Dead, 18 Injured

A devastating plane crash in Fullerton has claimed two lives and left at least 18 injured. The tragic incident occurred Thursday afternoon when a small plane slammed into the roof of a warehouse near Fullerton Municipal Airport.

Details of the Crash

Time & Location: The crash was reported at 2:10 p.m. on the 2300 block of West Raymer Avenue, adjacent to the airport.

Initial Reports: Emergency calls initially described the event as a structure fire, later confirmed to be caused by a plane crash. Video footage from Sky5 revealed a large hole in the roof of a commercial building, with no visible plane wreckage.

Fire Response: Firefighters battled flames inside the warehouse, while nearby buildings were evacuated. Several ambulances were stationed on-site to transport injured individuals.

Casualties and Injuries

Early Reports: By 2:40 p.m., the Fullerton Police Department confirmed there were “unknown casualties.” Shortly after, it was announced that nine people were hospitalized, while six others were treated and released at the scene.

Updated Toll: By 4:45 p.m., the death toll rose to two. An additional three individuals were treated for injuries, with one requiring hospitalization.

Deceased Victim Identified: Authorities believe one of the deceased was the plane’s pilot.

Visuals and Community Response

Eyewitness Video: Video shared on the Citizen App showed a thick plume of black smoke rising from the warehouse roof as fire trucks and emergency responders rushed to the scene.

Road Closures: Police closed off several roads around the area, urging drivers to avoid the scene.

Community Statement: Fullerton Mayor Fred Jung and the City Council expressed their gratitude to first responders, commending their courage and dedication.

“Your extraordinary efforts remind us of the strength and resilience of our community,” said Mayor Jung.

The City Council pledged to support those affected by the tragedy.

About the Aircraft

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) identified the plane as an “experimental aircraft,” commonly used for recreational purposes. While these planes are often amateur-built, they must meet FAA licensing and inspection standards.

This crash follows a similar incident in November, where two individuals narrowly escaped injury after their plane crashed into a tree near the same airport.

Ongoing Investigation

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities, including the FAA, are working to determine what led to the accident. More updates will follow as details emerge.
