The accident occurred on Monday night when a Lanhsa Airlines flight crashed into the sea shortly after takeoff from Roatán, en route to La Ceiba on the mainland.

The aircraft, carrying 17 passengers and crew, failed to gain full altitude before plummeting into the ocean.
