Updated – February 23, 2026

WASHINGTON (Journos News) – The release of Epstein estate photos by House Democrats has reignited scrutiny over long-standing questions surrounding the late financier’s network of powerful associates. Lawmakers on the House Oversight Committee disclosed dozens of images drawn from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate, including photographs showing former U.S. President Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton and Britain’s former Prince Andrew.

The move comes as the Department of Justice faces a court-imposed deadline to release additional investigative materials related to Epstein, whose 2019 death in federal custody fueled years of legal battles, political tensions and public speculation. While many of the images have previously circulated, their formal release by congressional Democrats adds a new dimension to an already sensitive inquiry.

The photographs were made public without captions or detailed context, underscoring the political stakes surrounding what remains one of the most controversial criminal investigations in recent U.S. history.

Release of Epstein estate photos intensifies political dispute

Democratic members of the House Oversight Committee said they received more than 95,000 images from Epstein’s estate. On Friday, they released an initial batch of 19 photographs, followed by roughly 70 more later in the day.

Among them was a black-and-white image of Donald Trump standing alongside six women whose faces were redacted. Other images included Epstein at his residence, Epstein appearing with a swollen lip, and a photograph of him in a bathtub. Lawmakers said the redactions were intended to prevent harm to potential victims.

Representative Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the committee, said staff had reviewed approximately a quarter of the materials received. He emphasized that the committee would continue to redact identifying details of victims or individuals who could face harm from disclosure.

“Our commitment from day one has been to redact any photo, any information that could lead to any sort of harm to any of the victims,” Garcia said.

The release is separate from Department of Justice files currently under court order for disclosure. However, Democrats said they intend to continue publishing images in the coming weeks as they press for broader transparency.

Trump and White House respond

President Donald Trump said he had not reviewed the newly released images and described them as “no big deal.” He reiterated that Epstein had been a prominent figure in Palm Beach social circles.

“Epstein was all over Palm Beach,” Trump said, adding that the financier had “photos with everybody.”

White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson accused Democrats of selectively releasing images to create what she described as a misleading narrative. She characterized the disclosure as part of a political effort targeting the president.

A spokesperson for the Republican-controlled House Oversight Committee said that none of the materials received so far show wrongdoing by Trump.

Trump has previously acknowledged a past friendship with Epstein but has said their relationship ended well before Epstein was charged with sex trafficking offenses. Epstein died in a New York jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal charges.

Clinton, Prince Andrew and other high-profile figures

Bill Clinton has also acknowledged contact with Epstein, including travel aboard Epstein’s private jet. Through a spokesperson, Clinton has said he had no knowledge of Epstein’s criminal conduct and has not been accused of misconduct by known victims.

Republicans on the committee are seeking testimony from Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Representative James Comer, the committee’s chair, warned Friday that contempt proceedings could begin if they do not appear for scheduled depositions or arrange new dates.

The release also included images featuring Britain’s former Prince Andrew, who has faced sustained scrutiny over his association with Epstein. Andrew has denied wrongdoing. In recent years, he stepped back from public royal duties following legal and reputational fallout connected to the Epstein case.

Additional photographs showed a range of public figures, including political operative Steve Bannon, entrepreneur Richard Branson, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, filmmaker Woody Allen, former U.S. Treasury Secretary Larry Summers and legal scholar Alan Dershowitz. Many of these figures have previously acknowledged contact with Epstein while denying any involvement in criminal conduct.

Summers faced professional repercussions following earlier disclosures of emails between him and Epstein, stepping away from teaching duties at Harvard University amid criticism. Allen has separately denied long-standing allegations made by his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow.

Broader Justice Department disclosure awaited

The renewed focus on the Epstein estate materials comes as lawmakers from both parties await the release of additional Department of Justice files.

Representative Thomas Massie, a Republican from Kentucky who supported legislation requiring broader public disclosure, said the grand jury materials represent only a portion of what federal authorities possess.

“The grand jury material is just a small fraction of what the DOJ needs to release,” Massie said, suggesting that investigative files beyond those presented to a grand jury may hold further relevance.

The Justice Department has sought court approval to release certain grand jury records, though such disclosures are typically subject to strict legal standards. Legal experts note that courts balance transparency against privacy rights and the protection of victims.

The political stakes are significant. For Democrats, the photo release underscores calls for greater transparency. For Republicans, it reinforces demands for testimony from prominent Democrats while defending Trump against allegations of misconduct.

Nearly five years after Epstein’s death, the case continues to reverberate across American politics and public life. The newly disclosed Epstein estate photos add to a record that remains incomplete — and to a debate that shows little sign of receding.

London (Journos News) — Former Prince Andrew is again under pressure to cooperate with a U.S. congressional investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. The latest calls come after UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that anyone with relevant information should assist authorities.

Starmer Emphasizes Need for Evidence Sharing

Speaking while traveling to the Group of 20 summit in Johannesburg, Starmer avoided addressing Andrew directly. Instead, he repeated a long-held principle: individuals who hold information that may help an investigation should provide it.

“I don’t comment on his particular case,” Starmer said. “But as a general principle I’ve held for a very long time is that anybody who has got relevant information in relation to these kinds of cases should give that evidence to those that need it.”

Andrew Yet to Respond to U.S. Committee

Andrew, formally known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, has not responded to a request from members of the U.S. House Oversight Committee. Lawmakers want him to give a transcribed interview about his long-standing friendship with Epstein.
Last month, the royal family removed his remaining titles and honors as it continued to distance itself from the controversy.

U.S. Lawmakers Push for Accountability

Starmer’s comments followed criticism from committee Democrats, including Rep. Robert Garcia of California and Rep. Suhas Subramanyam of Virginia. They said Andrew continues to avoid serious questions and stressed that the committee’s work will continue.

“Our work will move forward with or without him, and we will hold anyone who was involved in these crimes accountable, no matter their wealth, status or political party,” the lawmakers said in a statement on Friday. “We will get justice for the survivors.”

Scrutiny Continues as Committee Probes Epstein Network

Andrew’s situation remains under international attention and reflects wider discussions about accountability and privilege. The U.S. congressional inquiry aims to examine Epstein’s network and how it operated, while also pursuing broader transparency for victims.

Background on Epstein Case

Jeffrey Epstein, a financier and convicted sex offender, was arrested in 2019 on federal sex-trafficking charges. His ties to many high-profile figures — from political leaders to members of royalty — triggered several investigations over the past few years.
The House Oversight Committee’s request to Andrew is part of ongoing efforts to review his associations with Epstein and determine whether he has information relevant to the case.

Prince Andrew Told Epstein ‘I Can’t Take Any More’ as Emails Shed Light on 2011 Allegations

Newly released emails from the estate of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein reveal that Prince Andrew expressed deep frustration to Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell in 2011 after being alerted that a British newspaper was preparing a story about their controversial associations.

In the email, Andrew wrote: “What’s all this? I don’t know anything about this! You must SAY so please. This has NOTHING to do with me. I can’t take any more of this.” The correspondence followed a “right-of-reply” email sent by the Mail on Sunday to Maxwell, which included multiple claims about Andrew.

Congressional Inquiry and Testimony Request

The release of these documents coincides with a U.S. Congressional inquiry into Epstein, who died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have requested Andrew’s testimony.

Congressman Suhas Subramanyam noted that Andrew can testify remotely and has yet to respond to the invitation. Virginia Giuffre, a prominent Epstein accuser, has alleged that Andrew had sexual encounters with her as a teenager. Andrew has denied the claims and reached an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre in 2022, which contained no admission of liability or apology.

Earlier this month, Andrew was stripped of his titles following renewed attention on his Epstein ties after Giuffre’s posthumous memoir.

Trump and Other Figures Mentioned in Emails

Several emails released by Democrats reference Donald Trump, exchanged between Epstein and Maxwell. One April 2011 email reportedly stated: “I want you to realize that the dog that hasn’t barked is Trump.. [VICTIM] spent hours at my house with him.”

The White House later clarified that the unnamed “victim” was Virginia Giuffre, who died by suicide earlier this year, and that she never alleged wrongdoing by Trump. Giuffre’s 2016 deposition and 2025 memoir do not implicate Trump in any abuse.

House Republicans subsequently released thousands of additional documents, accusing Democrats of selectively highlighting materials to create a “fake narrative” against Trump.

Photo Evidence and Historical Allegations

The emails also address a photo of Andrew with a 17-year-old Giuffre, confirming its authenticity. Epstein wrote in July 2011 that Giuffre had been on his plane and had her picture taken with Andrew.

The email chain includes instructions from Maxwell allegedly directing Giuffre and another girl to sit on Andrew’s lap and engage in sexual activity at Epstein’s New York apartment and Little St. James, Epstein’s private Caribbean island. The correspondence requested a reply by noon the following day.

Andrew has maintained he has no recollection of the photo and has suggested it may have been manipulated.

Epstein and Lord Mandelson Contact

The documents show that Lord Peter Mandelson had contact with Epstein as late as 2016, years after previously reported interactions. Emails indicate discussions about personal milestones and the U.S. presidential election, referring to activities “in the Donald White House.” Mandelson was sacked as the UK ambassador to the U.S. in 2021 due to his links to Epstein. He declined to comment on the newly released emails.

The U.S. House Oversight Committee has released more than 23,000 documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, offering new insights into the late financier’s correspondence with politicians, journalists, and global elites. The extensive records include emails spanning years before and after his 2008 conviction, revealing how Epstein continued to cultivate relationships with influential figures despite his criminal record.

Political tensions over document release

The release of the documents quickly became a point of political contention in Washington. Democrats on the committee initially disclosed three emails in which Epstein mentioned former U.S. President Donald Trump. Republicans, accusing their counterparts of selective disclosure, responded by releasing the full trove of 23,000 documents to provide what they described as “complete context.”

Epstein, who died by suicide in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges, had previously served a one-year sentence in Florida after pleading guilty in 2008 to soliciting prostitution from a minor. His social and professional network—spanning politics, academia, and business—remained remarkably intact after his first conviction.

Epstein’s references to Trump

Several of the newly released emails feature Epstein’s exchanges with journalists and associates in which he discussed former President Trump. Epstein and Trump were acquaintances for years before reportedly having a falling out in the mid-2000s, well before Epstein’s criminal activities gained broader public attention.

One 2019 email to author and journalist Michael Wolff drew attention after Epstein referred to Virginia Giuffre, one of his accusers, who had worked at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. “She was the one who accused Prince Andrew,” Epstein wrote.

Epstein added in the same exchange that Trump “knew about the girls,” though the context of that statement remains unclear. Trump has long maintained that he banned Epstein from his private club, claiming Epstein had been “taking people who worked for me.”

Giuffre, who died by suicide earlier this year, had previously stated that she met Trump once and that he had not been involved in Epstein’s alleged abuse of minors. She also said she did not believe Trump was aware of Epstein’s crimes.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt criticized Democrats for what she described as an attempt to “create a fake narrative to smear President Trump” through selective document leaks.

References to Prince Andrew and Ghislaine Maxwell

Epstein’s correspondence also revisits his longstanding association with Britain’s Prince Andrew—now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Giuffre alleged that Epstein and his former companion, Ghislaine Maxwell, coerced her into sexual encounters with Andrew when she was 17. The claims led to Andrew’s withdrawal from royal duties and the loss of several titles.

In a 2011 email, Epstein disputed Giuffre’s credibility, writing to a reporter, “Yes, she was on my plane, and yes she had her picture taken with Andrew as many of my employees have, but this girl is a total liar.” He then said he would ask whether Andrew’s “people” would cooperate with the journalist on a story.

Another message that same year referenced both Trump and Giuffre. “i want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is trump,” Epstein wrote to Maxwell, suggesting that despite Giuffre’s time at his home, Trump had never been accused of misconduct. Maxwell replied, “I have been thinking about that.”

Mountbatten-Windsor has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

Clinton and the Caribbean island allegations

Several emails show Epstein’s efforts to respond to claims that former President Bill Clinton had visited his private island in the Caribbean. “Presidents at dinner on Caribbean islands (Clinton was never ever there, easy to confirm),” Epstein wrote, dismissing Giuffre’s published account as false.

Clinton has acknowledged traveling on Epstein’s private jet for charitable work linked to the Clinton Foundation but has denied visiting Epstein’s island or being aware of his criminal behavior. None of Epstein’s known accusers have implicated Clinton in any abuse.

Epstein’s relationship with the press

Many of the released emails depict Epstein as a frequent correspondent with reporters who sought his insights on politics, finance, and the elite circles he moved in. Several journalists reached out to him for off-the-record commentary, including on topics such as global oil markets and the personal relationships of world leaders.

In return, Epstein appeared eager to influence how he was portrayed in the media. He often contested published allegations and tried to leverage his connections to counter negative coverage.

In one 2016 email, he told a reporter, “I never met Al Gore. No diners on the island either, no matter how much detail has been in the press.” He further encouraged the journalist to emphasize that Clinton “was never on the island.”

Epstein’s communications suggest that, even after his first conviction, he sought to maintain a position of influence through his access to prominent individuals and journalists.

Broader implications of the document release

The new trove of emails has reignited scrutiny of how Epstein managed to remain socially and professionally connected despite his criminal history. Analysts say the release underscores the complex intersection of money, power, and influence in elite circles.

Legal experts note that while many of the emails offer limited new evidence, they may provide additional insight into Epstein’s efforts to manage his image and relationships in the years leading up to his death.

The House Oversight Committee said its goal in publishing the documents was to ensure transparency and allow the public to review the full extent of Epstein’s communications with political, media, and financial figures.

Epstein’s death in 2019, ruled a suicide by New York City’s medical examiner, continues to fuel public debate and conspiracy theories, though no credible evidence has emerged to suggest foul play.

As congressional investigators and journalists sift through the thousands of pages of correspondence, the newly released files are likely to renew discussion about accountability, privilege, and the enduring influence of wealth in political and social systems worldwide.

King Charles III has formally stripped his younger brother, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, of his title as prince and the honorific “His Royal Highness,” according to an official decree published on Wednesday. The move, enacted through a royal Letters Patent, marks the most decisive step yet in the monarch’s efforts to distance the royal family from the controversies surrounding the disgraced duke.

Official Announcement and Royal Procedure

The announcement appeared in The Gazette, the United Kingdom’s official public record, confirming that “THE KING has been pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm dated 3 November 2025 to declare that Andrew Mountbatten Windsor shall no longer be entitled to hold and enjoy the style, title or attribute of ‘Royal Highness’ and the titular dignity of ‘Prince.’”

The decree also confirmed the removal of Andrew’s title as Duke of York, ending his formal connection to one of Britain’s oldest ducal estates. Letters Patent, a centuries-old instrument of royal authority, have been used throughout British history to grant or revoke honors, peerages, and other official designations.

A Long-Anticipated Decision

The king had signaled his intention to take action on October 31, when Buckingham Palace announced plans to remove Andrew’s titles and evict him from his Windsor residence. The decision followed renewed scrutiny of Andrew’s association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and a wave of public criticism calling for stronger measures.

At 65, Andrew has been the subject of years of controversy over his relationship with Epstein, whose criminal network exploited underage girls. Growing pressure intensified after the publication of a posthumous memoir by Virginia Roberts Giuffre—one of Epstein’s victims—who accused Andrew of sexual abuse when she was a teenager. Giuffre’s family welcomed the king’s latest decision.

Loss of Residence and Royal Privileges

Andrew is now expected to leave Royal Lodge, a 30-room mansion near Windsor Castle where he has lived for over two decades. He will reportedly relocate to a smaller home on King Charles’s Sandringham Estate in eastern England. The property, located on the king’s 20,000-acre (8,100-hectare) estate, is being prepared as his new private residence.

The move further reduces Andrew’s public and royal presence. He had already been stripped of military affiliations and royal patronages in 2022 amid mounting legal and reputational fallout. The latest removal of his titles formally severs his standing as a working member of the royal family.

Public and Institutional Reaction

Reactions to the announcement have been mixed but largely supportive of the king’s efforts to protect the monarchy’s integrity. Royal observers say the move reflects Charles’s determination to modernize the institution by enforcing accountability and restoring public trust.

Giuffre’s relatives issued a statement thanking the king for taking “a moral stand” and acknowledging the pain caused by the case. Giuffre, who died by suicide in April at the age of 41, had long alleged that Epstein trafficked her to powerful men, including Andrew—claims he has consistently denied.

Background and Denials

Epstein was found dead in a New York City jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. His death was ruled a suicide. Andrew has repeatedly denied Giuffre’s allegations and has not faced criminal charges. In 2022, he reached an out-of-court settlement in a civil lawsuit filed by Giuffre in the United States, without admitting wrongdoing.

The former duke has since lived largely out of public view, occasionally photographed attending family events but excluded from royal duties and official ceremonies.

A New Era for the Monarchy

Royal analysts describe the king’s latest decision as a defining moment for the monarchy’s internal discipline. By invoking Letters Patent—a rarely used but constitutionally significant power—Charles signaled a willingness to take decisive action to preserve the Crown’s reputation amid social and media pressures.

The move comes as the monarchy continues efforts to streamline its structure and redefine its role in modern British society. With Andrew’s removal, the royal household has effectively closed one of its most damaging chapters since the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Britain’s Prince Andrew faces ongoing scrutiny over his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, even after giving up the use of his royal titles. Allegations, legal settlements, and continued public and parliamentary pressure highlight unresolved issues surrounding the former Duke of York’s conduct, privileges, and residence on royal property.

Andrew and Epstein: The Nature of Their Relationship

Prince Andrew’s association with Jeffrey Epstein has been a source of persistent controversy. Introduced to Epstein by Ghislaine Maxwell in 1999, Andrew claims they met only “once or twice a year” and denies wrongdoing. He stayed at several of Epstein’s properties and attended high-profile social events, including charity fundraisers at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago and parties at Windsor Castle hosted by the royal family.

Epstein pleaded guilty to state-level prostitution charges in 2008 and was later charged federally for sex trafficking before dying in prison in 2019. Andrew’s connections to Epstein, Maxwell, and other social circles have prompted questions about judgment and oversight during his tenure as a working royal.

Legal Settlements and Allegations

Virginia Giuffre, who accused Andrew of sexually assaulting her as a teenager, detailed multiple alleged encounters with him in London, New York, and on Epstein’s Caribbean island, Little St. James. Giuffre’s 2025 posthumous memoir “Nobody’s Girl” further fuels public scrutiny.

Andrew settled a civil suit with Giuffre in 2022 without admitting wrongdoing but acknowledged her suffering as a victim of sex trafficking. He has maintained that he never witnessed or suspected Epstein’s criminal behavior. Nonetheless, reports of a 2011 email urging Epstein to “keep in close touch” challenge his prior claim that he severed ties in 2010. The Metropolitan Police are investigating allegations that he asked a bodyguard to gather information on Giuffre.

Royal Family Knowledge and Response

It remains unclear what King Charles III or other senior royal staff knew about Andrew’s Epstein connections and when. While his 2019 BBC interview was filmed at Buckingham Palace, the depth of internal awareness has not been disclosed. Critics argue that the royal household has not adequately accounted for the implications of Andrew’s associations.

Titles, Honors, and Royal Standing

On Friday, Andrew announced he would stop using the Duke of York title and other honors, a decision made in consultation with King Charles and the royal family. However, he retains the titles legally, as formal removal requires an act of parliament. Andrew also remains eighth in line to the throne, a position that can only be altered through legislation with the consent of Commonwealth nations—a process last used during Edward VIII’s abdication in 1936.

Critics argue that ceasing use is insufficient for accountability, noting that his status as a prince remains intact, which carries more significance than his dukedom internationally.

Residency at Royal Lodge

Prince Andrew continues to reside at Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, under a 75-year lease agreed in 2003. Although upfront payments and refurbishment costs were covered, the lease terms reportedly allow Andrew to pay a nominal annual rent of one peppercorn. The arrangement also entitles him to a substantial payout if he vacates early.

This has provoked parliamentary and public criticism, with calls for greater accountability given the use of Crown Estate property and potential taxpayer interest. Lawmakers have urged scrutiny over his continued residence and the financial terms involved.

Additional Controversies

Andrew has faced questions over business dealings with China, including alleged connections to Chinese businessman and purported spy Yang Tengbo. Documents indicate that Andrew maintained communications with Xi Jinping through Yang, though he has denied wrongdoing and claims to have ceased the relationship after government advice. These controversies compound the ongoing Epstein-related scandal and raise broader questions about his conduct in private and public capacities.

Government and Parliamentary Involvement

The UK government has faced calls to intervene, including a motion by the Scottish National Party urging legislative steps to remove Andrew’s dukedom. A YouGov poll indicates that 80% of Britons support this action. Downing Street maintains that the matter falls under the royal family’s discretion, emphasizing that Andrew has already ceased using his titles.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer has called for “proper scrutiny” of all Crown properties, reflecting broader parliamentary interest in accountability and oversight.

Published: October 18, 2025, 21:50 EDT

Prince Andrew has formally relinquished the use of his royal titles, including Duke of York, following discussions with King Charles and other senior members of the royal family, Buckingham Palace confirmed Friday.

In a statement released by the palace, Andrew said the decision was made “in discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family,” adding that ongoing accusations surrounding his conduct had become a distraction from “the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.”

A royal source told CNN that the decision takes effect immediately, ending months of speculation about the prince’s standing within the monarchy.

A Move to Protect the Monarchy’s Reputation

The move marks the most significant step yet in distancing the royal institution from Andrew, who has faced persistent scrutiny over his association with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein and more recent allegations of ties to an alleged Chinese spy.

“With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further,” the prince said in his statement. “I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me.”

Members of the royal family, including Prince William, the Prince of Wales, were consulted before the decision was finalized, according to multiple reports.

Family Titles and Public Roles Adjusted

Under the new arrangement, Andrew’s ex-wife will be referred to simply as Sarah Ferguson, dropping her “Duchess of York” title. However, the titles of their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, will remain unaffected.

Royal insiders said Andrew will no longer participate in official family events, including annual Christmas gatherings, though he will continue to reside at the Royal Lodge in Windsor, where he holds a private tenancy.

Despite relinquishing his honors, he will retain his title as “Prince” by birthright as the son of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

A Scandal That Has Shadowed the Royal Family for Years

Prince Andrew’s troubles date back nearly a decade and center largely on allegations made by Virginia Giuffre, who filed a 2015 lawsuit accusing Epstein of trafficking her and forcing her into sexual encounters with his associates — including Andrew — when she was 17.

Giuffre alleged that Andrew was aware she was underage and that the encounters took place at Epstein’s Manhattan residence, his private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and at the London home of Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former companion.

Andrew has consistently denied all allegations of sexual abuse or misconduct.

Amid mounting public outrage and institutional pressure, he stepped down from royal duties in 2019 following a widely criticized BBC interview, during which he struggled to explain his relationship with Epstein.

Loss of Military and Charitable Positions

Following the lawsuit, Andrew was stripped of his military affiliations and removed from honorary positions across multiple charities and organizations.

In 2022, he and Giuffre reached an undisclosed out-of-court settlement, which ended the legal dispute but did little to rehabilitate his public image.

The friendship between Andrew and Epstein — which spanned more than a decade — reportedly ended in 2011, when Epstein allegedly threatened legal action against Sarah Ferguson, Andrew’s ex-wife, over unpaid debts.

New Allegations of Chinese Spy Links

Beyond the Epstein controversy, Andrew has faced renewed attention over alleged connections to Yang Tengbo, a Chinese businessman accused of espionage and barred from entering the United Kingdom.

Documents presented during a UK tribunal hearing in December 2024 revealed that Yang was authorized to represent Prince Andrew in meetings with potential Chinese investors, a claim that prompted a government inquiry into the prince’s foreign dealings.

The tribunal upheld Yang’s exclusion from the UK, though he has denied any wrongdoing. Andrew has not been accused of a crime in connection with the case, but the revelations deepened concerns over his judgment and associations.

Royal Family Seeks Stability After Years of Turmoil

King Charles, who has prioritized restoring public trust in the monarchy since ascending the throne, has reportedly encouraged a “streamlined and accountable royal model.” Palace aides say Andrew’s decision reflects a collective effort to move forward and refocus public attention on the monarchy’s official work.

“This is about safeguarding the institution,” one royal aide told The Guardian. “His Majesty values loyalty and service, but he also understands that the public’s confidence in the Crown must come first.”

Public and Media Reaction

Reactions to the announcement have been mixed. Some commentators have praised the move as a necessary step toward transparency, while others argue that it comes too late to repair the damage caused by years of negative publicity.

Royal analysts note that while the decision draws a line under Andrew’s formal role, questions remain about his long-term future within the family and whether he will retain royal security or taxpayer-funded privileges.

Buckingham Palace has not commented further on these details.

The Monarchy at a Crossroads

As the Royal Family faces growing calls for modernization and accountability, Andrew’s departure from official life symbolizes a broader generational shift.

For now, the palace’s message is clear: the monarchy aims to protect its reputation through decisive action and transparency, even when that involves its own members.

Published: October 18, 2025, 22:40 EDT

The U.S. House Oversight Committee has released flight manifest records from the late financier Jeffrey Epstein’s private jet, alongside a transcript of a closed-door interview with former U.S. attorney Alex Acosta. The documents shed renewed light on the controversial 2008 plea deal that allowed Epstein to avoid federal prosecution despite widespread allegations of sexual abuse and trafficking.

Epstein Documents Made Public by Congressional Committee

The release, published Friday afternoon, includes passenger lists from Epstein’s private jet—records that have drawn global attention for years due to the high-profile names involved. Among those listed are Prince Andrew, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, the late news anchor Walter Cronkite, and entrepreneur Richard Branson. None of these individuals have been accused of any wrongdoing.

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton also appeared in several entries, including a 2002 flight where he traveled with Secret Service protection, according to the committee’s documentation. Like others mentioned, Clinton has not been accused of any criminal activity in relation to Epstein.

The House Oversight Committee, chaired by members investigating federal accountability in Epstein’s case, also published a 180-page transcript of its September interview with Alex Acosta, who served as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida when the original case was prosecuted.

Acosta Defends 2008 Plea Deal as ‘Strategic Judgment’

In the transcript, Acosta defended the controversial decision to grant Epstein a plea agreement that reduced his exposure to federal charges. Under the 2008 deal, Epstein pleaded guilty to state-level charges, served 13 months in jail, registered as a sex offender, and compensated several victims.

Acosta told lawmakers the plea agreement reflected the limitations of the evidence available at the time. “Many victims refused to testify,” he said, explaining that inconsistencies in testimony might have weakened the case in court. “Our judgment was that it was better to have a billionaire serve time in jail and register as a sex offender than risk a total acquittal.”

The former prosecutor said his team weighed the public interest against the likelihood of a failed trial. “Every attorney that looked at the case understood there were evidentiary issues. Defense cross-examination would have been withering,” Acosta said in his testimony.

Concerns Over State-Level Handling of the Case

Acosta further stated that local Florida prosecutors had initially offered Epstein a lenient outcome. “The state attorney was letting him get away with this,” he said. “They were asking pre-trial diversion — unacceptable.” He added that his office’s intervention ensured at least some accountability. “A billionaire going to jail sends a strong signal that this is not right, that this cannot happen.”

During questioning, Acosta acknowledged that Epstein’s legal team “got awfully close to the line of unethical,” but said he “resisted” their pressure tactics.

Renewed Scrutiny Years After Epstein’s Death

The documents mark one of the most detailed public disclosures since Epstein’s death in federal custody in 2019, which was ruled a suicide. His death reignited questions about the initial plea deal and about the potential protection of influential associates.

When Acosta later served as Secretary of Labor under the Trump administration, his handling of the Epstein case resurfaced and led to his resignation in July 2019. At the time, Acosta again defended his decision, claiming federal prosecutors had faced severe constraints. “The Palm Beach state attorney’s office was ready to let Epstein walk free,” he said. “We found that completely unacceptable.”

A Case That Continues to Resonate

While the latest releases do not introduce new criminal allegations, they provide insight into the internal reasoning behind the 2008 plea arrangement and the scope of Epstein’s social network. Lawmakers say the disclosures aim to promote transparency and restore public trust in federal prosecutorial processes.

Epstein’s connections to political leaders, celebrities, and business figures continue to fuel public interest. The inclusion of prominent names in the manifests has drawn renewed debate over how powerful individuals interact with systems of accountability.

The Broader Implications for Justice Reform

The renewed focus on the Epstein files has also reignited discussion about how victims of sexual exploitation are treated in the justice system. Acosta, during the committee interview, admitted that “today’s world treats victims very, very differently,” reflecting changes in prosecutorial approaches to cases involving abuse survivors.

Legal analysts suggest that the House Oversight Committee’s actions may influence future policy discussions on plea agreements and federal oversight of high-profile cases. “This is as much about transparency as it is about accountability,” one legal expert told Reuters following the release.

The committee has not announced any additional hearings, but lawmakers indicated further document reviews may follow as they evaluate remaining materials from Epstein’s criminal proceedings and associated investigations.

Virginia Giuffre, Key Accuser in Epstein Case, Dies at 41

Virginia Giuffre, the woman who accused Britain’s Prince Andrew of sexual abuse in connection with the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking scandal, has tragically passed away at the age of 41. Giuffre died by suicide on Friday at her farm in Western Australia, her publicist confirmed.

Giuffre’s family has released a heartfelt statement remembering her as “a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking.” They described her as a beacon of hope for many survivors and expressed how deeply she will be missed. “Despite all the adversity she faced in her life, she shone so bright,” they said. “She will be missed beyond measure.”

Her publicist, Dini von Mueffling, also paid tribute to her, calling her “deeply loving, wise, and funny” and highlighting her devotion to her children and animals. “I will miss her beyond words,” von Mueffling said. “It was the privilege of a lifetime to represent her.”

Giuffre, born Virginia Roberts in the U.S., had lived in Australia for years and became a prominent advocate for sex trafficking survivors. She gained international attention for her role in the downfall of financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was accused of trafficking and abusing young women and girls. Epstein’s death in 2019 while awaiting trial left many of his accusers without the justice they sought.

Giuffre came forward publicly after Epstein’s 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor. She accused Epstein and his associates of exploiting her as a teenager. Giuffre claimed that in the early 2000s, she was recruited by Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s associate, to be a masseuse for Epstein, but soon found herself forced into sexual servitude. She alleged that she was flown around the world to have sex with powerful men, including Prince Andrew, when she was just 17 and 18 years old.

Despite Prince Andrew’s denials, including his infamous 2019 BBC interview, where he gave odd and unconvincing explanations for the accusations, Giuffre’s claims were supported by various documents and testimonies. A notable piece of evidence was a photograph showing Prince Andrew with his arm around Giuffre’s bare midriff, taken in Maxwell’s London townhouse.

In 2022, Prince Andrew reached a financial settlement with Giuffre, acknowledging Epstein’s role as a sex trafficker and acknowledging Giuffre as a victim of abuse. While Giuffre also filed lawsuits against other individuals connected to Epstein, she later dropped claims against one U.S. attorney, acknowledging she may have been mistaken in identifying him.

Epstein’s death in 2019 ended any hopes of criminal accountability for him, but Maxwell’s 2021 conviction for sex trafficking and conspiracy brought some justice to the survivors. Though Giuffre’s accusations were not part of Maxwell’s trial, Giuffre had previously stated that Maxwell had “opened the door to hell” for her.

Giuffre’s personal story was one of resilience. She spoke openly about her traumatic childhood, which included sexual abuse by a family acquaintance. She ran away from home and endured more abuse before meeting her husband while training as a massage therapist in Thailand. She later married, moved to Australia, and founded SOAR, an advocacy charity for survivors of sexual trafficking, in 2015.

Giuffre’s passing comes shortly after a serious accident, though details of the incident were not disclosed. She is survived by her three children, described by her family as the “light of her life.”

Attorney Sigrid McCawley, who represented Giuffre, expressed her grief, saying, “Her courage pushed me to fight harder, and her strength was awe-inspiring. The world has lost an amazing human being today. Rest in peace, my sweet angel.”

Giuffre’s legacy as a powerful advocate for justice and survivors of sexual abuse will live on, even in the face of her untimely death. Her bravery in confronting one of the world’s most powerful networks of abuse will never be forgotten.
