Prosecutors Wrap Up Case Against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs with More Graphic Sex Videos

NEW YORK — Federal prosecutors are preparing to rest their sex trafficking case against Sean “Diddy” Combs this week, capping off nearly two months of testimony with more explicit video footage at the heart of their allegations.

On Monday, jurors were shown about 20 minutes of graphic recordings allegedly documenting drug-fueled sex parties, sometimes referred to as “freak-offs” or “hotel nights.” These recordings, filmed by Combs himself, are part of what prosecutors say was a years-long pattern of sex trafficking and racketeering, coordinated with the help of his staff and funded through his business accounts.

The videos were played only for the jury and the legal teams — not for the press or public — due to their graphic nature. Jurors listened to the footage using headsets while the courtroom remained visually and audibly shielded from the content.

A Pattern of Control and Conspiracy, Prosecutors Say

Prosecutors allege Combs orchestrated a sprawling operation, using his employees to arrange and clean up after sex parties in cities like Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and New York. According to their case, male sex workers were flown in at his direction, and hotel rooms were prepared and maintained by staff.

This week’s testimony included a deeper look at those logistics, featuring Homeland Security Investigations Agent Joseph Cerciello, who spent hours reading text messages that allegedly reveal the inner workings of the operation. Cerciello is the final witness for the prosecution.

Cassie and “Jane”: Central Figures in the Trial

The case opened seven weeks ago with security footage of Combs violently attacking his then-girlfriend, Cassie, at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016. Cassie, born Casandra Ventura, is a central figure in the prosecution’s narrative. She testified earlier in the trial that she participated in hundreds of “freak-off” events during her relationship with Combs, which lasted from 2007 to 2018.

Cassie filed a civil suit against Combs in 2023 alleging years of abuse — a case he settled within hours. That lawsuit sparked a wave of similar allegations from other women.

Last week, the prosecution showed two minutes of video from 2012 and 2014 involving Cassie, Combs, and a male sex worker. The defense, however, countered by presenting about 18 minutes of additional footage, arguing it showed the activity was consensual, not criminal.

Monday’s videos focused on a woman identified only as “Jane,” a single mother who previously testified over six days. She said she was romantically involved with Combs between 2021 and his arrest in September 2023. Prosecutors say dozens of recorded encounters featuring Jane spanned from late 2021 to August 2023, with some sessions lasting hours.

Combs Maintains His Innocence

Combs, 55, has pleaded not guilty to the charges and has remained deeply involved in his defense, often passing notes to his legal team and advising on strategy. Despite the serious nature of the accusations, his attorneys argue that the prosecution’s case hinges on consensual adult behavior presented out of context.

What’s Next

After defense lawyers complete their cross-examination of Agent Cerciello, the prosecution is expected to formally rest its case on Tuesday. A brief defense presentation is anticipated before closing arguments, tentatively scheduled for Thursday.

If convicted, Combs could face life in prison.

Diddy Unlikely to Testify as Defense Nears Wrap in Federal Sex Trafficking Trial

It’s looking more and more like Sean “Diddy” Combs won’t be taking the stand in his high-profile federal sex trafficking trial.

During a tense courtroom exchange on Tuesday, Diddy’s defense attorney, Marc Agnifilo, told U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian that their case could take as little as two days — and no more than five. That tight timeline makes it highly unlikely that Combs will testify in his own defense, since any appearance by the music mogul would likely stretch well beyond a week.

For comparison, testimony from two of Combs’ ex-girlfriends has already taken up a significant chunk of the six-week trial.

Combs, 55, has pleaded not guilty to charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. He’s been behind bars at a federal detention facility in Brooklyn since his arrest in September at a Manhattan hotel.

Prosecution Nears the Finish Line

Federal prosecutors say they plan to rest their case by Wednesday — or Friday morning at the latest. That means jury deliberations could begin as early as next week.

In court Tuesday, tensions flared as the judge lashed out over a leak tied to a sealed hearing about a juror. Subramanian warned both sides that further breaches of courtroom confidentiality could lead to severe consequences, including criminal contempt.

“This is the only warning I will give,” the judge said sternly, making it clear he expected no further slip-ups.

The Case Against Combs

Prosecutors continued building their case Tuesday, presenting jurors with a paper trail of text messages, phone records, and hotel bookings. The evidence, they argue, supports their claims that Combs orchestrated a years-long conspiracy — using his fame, his employees, and a network of enablers in the music industry to dominate, manipulate, and abuse women.

Two women at the center of the case — Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and another woman identified in court only as “Jane” — testified that Combs coerced them into extended, multi-day sex marathons. They described a disturbing pattern of threats, cash incentives, and instances where Combs allegedly watched, directed, or even filmed their encounters with male sex workers.

Ventura dated Combs from 2007 to 2018. Jane said her relationship with him began in 2021 and lasted until his arrest in 2023.

Defense Pushback

Combs’ legal team has tried to reframe the case as an overreach, arguing that the government is attempting to turn what they call “consensual adult relationships” into criminal conduct.

With the trial nearing its end and no sign that Combs will testify, all eyes are now on the jury — and the final arguments from both sides in what’s shaping up to be one of the most closely watched celebrity trials of the year.
