“My son just turned 16. My daughter is 12. The past six seasons, I’ve lived without them. I’ve been away—San Antonio, Phoenix, Golden State, Oklahoma City… They stayed in Houston.”

Now, Paul says he wants to stay closer to home as he considers his final destination in the league—ideally a West Coast team that allows him to spend more time with his children.

Though he’s not officially tied to any team yet, Paul is expected to make a decision this offseason on where he’ll play next.

He’s reportedly drawn interest from multiple franchises, including the Los Angeles Clippers and Phoenix Suns—both teams he has history with. NBA insider Marc Stein recently reported that Paul declined offers from the Charlotte Hornets and Dallas Mavericks, but has held conversations with the Milwaukee Bucks.

What exactly Paul is looking for in a final team remains unclear. It could be a shot at another playoff run, a reunion with a former coach, or simply proximity to his family. Regardless, the decision will likely be his last as a player.
