Spotify Plans $6 Premium Tier with High-Quality Audio, Remixing, and Concert Perks

Spotify’s New ‘Music Pro’ Subscription

Spotify is preparing to launch Music Pro, a new premium tier that could cost up to $5.99 per month on top of existing subscriptions. This upgraded service aims to attract super fans by offering higher-quality audio, AI-powered remixing tools, and exclusive access to concert tickets, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The company is targeting a late 2025 rollout, though the exact pricing and features may vary by region. The plan is still in development, as Spotify is working to secure rights from major music labels.

What Music Pro Will Offer

Subscribers to Music Pro can expect:
✔ High-fidelity audio – competing with Apple Music and Tidal
✔ AI-powered remixing tools – allowing users to mix tracks from different artists
✔ Exclusive concert perks – including presale access and better seats
✔ Personalized fan experiences – designed to appeal to dedicated music lovers

Spotify is also exploring partnerships with major concert promoters and ticket sellers to integrate ticketing features directly into the platform.

Why Spotify Is Expanding Its Offerings

For years, Spotify has charged a flat rate for unlimited music streaming in most markets. However, with slowing subscriber growth in the U.S., the company is shifting its focus toward tiered pricing and premium experiences.

Spotify increased its subscription prices in 2024 and recently launched an audiobook offering to diversify its revenue. The company believes super fans—those willing to spend on concerts, merchandise, and fan clubs—are the perfect audience for a higher-priced, feature-rich plan.

Music Industry Push for Higher Prices

Major music labels have been pressuring streaming services to charge more for premium features, as U.S. recorded music sales grew just 4% in early 2024—the slowest in nearly a decade.

Other streaming competitors already offer similar perks:
Apple Music & Amazon Music Unlimited – provide lossless audio
Tidal & SoundCloud – offer remixing tools for music creators
Spotify – remains the largest audio streaming platform with 675 million users and over 250 million paying subscribers

Gradual Rollout & Future Plans

Spotify plans to introduce Music Pro in phases, testing different features and price points throughout 2025. The company declined to comment on specific launch details, but sources say the service will evolve over time based on user feedback.

By creating a more premium experience, Spotify hopes to attract millions of dedicated fans willing to pay extra for exclusive content and perks—a move that could redefine music streaming in the years ahead.
