Sia Files for Divorce from Husband Daniel Bernard After Two Years of Marriage

Singer and songwriter Sia has filed for divorce from her husband, Daniel Bernard, after two years of marriage. The Australian artist, known for hits like Unstoppable and Chandelier, cited irreconcilable differences in a petition for dissolution of marriage filed on Wednesday in Los Angeles, according to court documents obtained by CNN.

End of a Short-Lived Marriage

Sia and Bernard tied the knot in 2022, but their marriage has now come to an official end with the singer’s legal filing. While the reasons behind their separation remain private, the court documents confirm that Sia is seeking full legal and physical custody of their child, with visitation rights for Bernard.

Welcoming Baby Somersault

One of the key revelations in the filing is that the couple recently welcomed their first child together, named Somersault, in 2024. Sia’s request for custody indicates her intention to take on primary responsibility for their child moving forward.

Sia’s Family and Past Relationships

This marks Sia’s second marriage, following her previous union with filmmaker Erik Anders Lang from 2014 to 2017. Additionally, Sia was already a mother and grandmother before welcoming Somersault. In 2019, she adopted two 18-year-old boys who were aging out of the foster system. A year later, she joyfully shared that one of her sons had become a father, making her a proud grandmother.

“My youngest son just had two babies. I’m a f**king grandma!” she said at the time, revealing that her chosen grandmotherly nickname is “Lovey.”
