Carlos Santana Postpones San Antonio Show Due to Dehydration, Tour to Resume This Week
Legendary guitarist Carlos Santana hit a brief pause on his Oneness Tour Tuesday night, postponing his performance at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio after experiencing dehydration.
According to a statement from Santana’s manager, Michael Vrionis, the 76-year-old musician was already at the venue preparing for the concert when the incident occurred.
“Mr. Santana was at the venue preparing for tonight’s show when he experienced an event that was determined to be dehydration,” Vrionis said. “Out of an abundance of caution and the health of Mr. Santana, the decision to postpone the show was the most prudent course of action.”
The good news? Santana is reportedly doing well and is eager to return to San Antonio soon. Vrionis added that the concert will be rescheduled, and thanked fans for their patience and understanding.
Despite the temporary setback, Santana’s tour is still rolling. He’s expected to perform Wednesday night in Sugar Land, Texas, followed by shows in Thackerville and Tulsa, Oklahoma later this week.
Next up, the Grammy-winning icon will head to Nashville and take the stage at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival before landing in Las Vegas for his residency, An Intimate Evening with Santana: Greatest Hits Live.
Earlier this month, Santana shared with the Associated Press what fans can expect from the Oneness Tour:
“A whole lot of energy and freshness and high consciousness and hope and courage.”
It looks like that energy will be back on stage in no time.
