Michigan AG Investigates ‘Twin Flames Universe’ for Alleged Coercive Practices
State and Federal Authorities Probe Online Spiritual Coaching Group
DETROIT — Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel confirmed Tuesday that her office, along with federal partners, is actively investigating Twin Flames Universe, an online company that claims to help people find their eternal romantic partner — or “twin flame.”
As part of the investigation, search warrants were executed at two homes in Leelanau County, northern Michigan, where the company is based.
“There are serious allegations that Twin Flames Universe exercises coercive control over its members, which could involve illegal activity,” Nessel said.
She did not disclose what specific evidence authorities were seeking during the search.
What Is Twin Flames Universe?
Founded by Jeff and Shaleia Divine, Twin Flames Universe offers spiritual matchmaking and self-help coaching. It promises to guide clients on a “spiritual journey” toward finding their one true soulmate — their twin flame.
The organization provides a variety of paid offerings, from a $9.99 Kindle book to an $8,888 “everything package”, which includes access to hundreds of hours of video lessons, guided meditations, and spiritual coaching sessions.
Despite its romantic and spiritual pitch, Twin Flames Universe has faced growing scrutiny. It’s been the subject of critical documentaries on Netflix and Amazon Prime, both of which explore claims of manipulation, emotional pressure, and cult-like behavior.
Company Denies Allegations
In a statement posted in March, Twin Flames Universe pushed back against the criticism.
“We take seriously recent allegations implying we wield inappropriate control over our community members,” the company wrote. “After a careful review of both media coverage and recent productions, we are saddened that so much effort has gone into taking swipes at an organization and community founded on love and mutual respect.”
As of publication, the company has not responded to new requests for comment regarding the ongoing investigation.
Attorney General Calls for Public Help
Attorney General Nessel is urging anyone with information about Twin Flames Universe — whether as a current or former member — to come forward.
“If you or someone you know has had concerning experiences with Twin Flames Universe, please reach out to our office,” she said.
The investigation remains ongoing, with more developments expected in the coming weeks.
