Kathy Griffin Steps Out in Malibu Showing Off Natural Hair and Wearing Her Own Tour Merch

MALIBU, CALIF. — Comedian and actress Kathy Griffin turned heads on Tuesday as she stepped out for a casual walk near her Malibu home, proudly showing off her wild, natural hair and wearing merchandise from one of her past comedy tours.

The 64-year-old star of Suddenly Susan was seen with a male companion, dressed comfortably in a white T-shirt from her 2018 Laugh Your Head Off World Tour and a pair of relaxed black pants.

But what really stood out was her hair — or lack of her signature look. Gone were the iconic, neatly styled red bangs she’s known for. Instead, Griffin wore her natural curls free and untamed, basking in the sunlight with a bare forehead.

A Look That Reflects Personal Evolution

Griffin has never shied away from bold hair statements. In 2017, she shaved her head in a heartfelt act of solidarity with her sister Joyce, who was undergoing chemotherapy at the time. Since then, she’s embraced wearing wigs — often referring to them as her “magic hair.”

Her Malibu outing is a stark contrast to her more glamorous appearance in a June 19 YouTube video, where she sat fully made up, seated beside one of her signature wigs.

Why Kathy Griffin Turned Down The View

In the video, Griffin also opened up about a career decision that surprised many: turning down a $1.4 million offer to host ABC’s The View in the mid-2000s.

“I had to turn it down because at the time, between doing My Life on the D-List and touring, I was making about $10 million a year,” she said honestly.

Griffin explained that beyond her busy professional life, she was also the primary caregiver for her parents. Uprooting to New York for the job would have disrupted her personal life and existing commitments.

Despite multiple appearances on The View and a close relationship with legendary co-host Barbara Walters, Griffin felt she had to speak with Walters directly about the decision.

“I told her, ‘It’s not that I think I’m too good for this show — it’s the opposite. This show is too good for me,’” Griffin recalled.

She cited moving costs, her deep roots in Los Angeles, and family responsibilities as key reasons for turning down the opportunity.
