Macy’s will celebrate its 98th annual Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, November 28. This iconic event promises to be filled with excitement, featuring 34 floats, 11 marching bands, 28 clown crews, and 11 performance groups, plus much more. When Does the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Start?
The parade will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon, airing live in all time zones. The event will be broadcast on TV and streamed online during these hours.
Where to Watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
The parade will be available to watch live on NBC. You can also stream it on Peacock, which has a special Black Friday deal for an annual subscription at $19.99 or $11.94 for six months (paid monthly). In addition, services like Fubo and YouTube TV that offer NBC will also carry the broadcast.
Macy’s Parade Route & How to Watch In Person
The parade kicks off at 8:30 a.m. at West 77th Street and Central Park West and will travel to Macy’s flagship store in Herald Square (34th Street) by noon. The parade will travel mainly along Central Park West and down Sixth Avenue. There will be about 2½ miles of public viewing spots along the route.
If you’re planning to watch in person, it’s a good idea to arrive early—by 6 a.m.—to grab a good viewing spot. Here are some prime viewing areas:
- Central Park West: Great viewing areas are available between 61st and 75th Streets. Please note, there is no public access for viewing between 59th and 60th Streets.
- Sixth Avenue: The best views can be found between 38th and 59th Streets, closer to the end of the parade. Avoid the area between 34th and 38th Streets since this section will be reserved for the live TV broadcast.
Be prepared for possible rain, so dress accordingly.
