‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’ Trailer: New Deaths and Bloody Omens in Horror Franchise’s Return After 14 Years

Fourteen years after the release of Final Destination 5, the iconic horror franchise is back with Final Destination: Bloodlines. Just in time for the series’ 25th anniversary, the new film promises more chilling premonitions, gruesome deaths, and the signature chain-reaction kills fans have come to love.

A Bloody Return: New Directors, Same Fatalistic Fun

Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, the duo behind Freaks (2018) and Kim Possible (2019), Final Destination: Bloodlines marks their first entry into the Final Destination universe. The script is penned by Guy Busick (Scream VI) and Lori Evans (Lucky Dog), bringing fresh talent to continue the franchise’s tradition of inviting new directors to each installment.

The Trailer: A Deadly Tattoo Parlor

The newly released trailer teases a grisly scene at a tattoo parlor. A tattoo artist gives a client a painful tongue piercing, unaware of the catastrophic chain of events unfolding around him.

As the artist works on his own tattoo, a series of unfortunate events begin: a ceiling chain falls, catching his nose ring and wrapping around a fan. The fan pulls him up by the nose just as a fire breaks out beneath him. The struggle ends when the ceiling fan crashes, plunging him straight into the flames.

It’s a trademark Final Destination kill—a deadly sequence of events set into motion by seemingly random factors. The trailer promises that this is just the beginning, with more bloody omens and grisly deaths to follow.

Who’s Involved?

The film stars a mix of rising talents, including:

  • Brec Bassinger (Stargirl)
  • Teo Briones (Chucky)
  • Kaitlyn Santa Juana (The Flash)
  • Richard Harmon (The 100)
  • Owen Patrick Joyner (Julie and the Phantoms)
  • Anna Lore (Gotham Knights)
  • Max Lloyd-Jones (The Book of Boba Fett)
  • Rya Kihlstedt (Obi-Wan Kenobi)
  • Tinpo Lee (The Manor)

While the plot remains mostly under wraps, fans can expect a mix of returning elements from the earlier films, including the iconic theme of escaping death—only for it to find you anyway.

A Legacy of Death

The Final Destination franchise began in 2000 with the premise of young people experiencing premonitions of horrific accidents—often just before stepping onto a plane, rollercoaster, or other deadly scenarios. To date, the franchise has grossed nearly $700 million worldwide.

While Final Destination 5 (2011) ended with a shocking twist revealing it as a prequel to the rest of the films, it’s still unclear if Bloodlines will continue the story or reboot the franchise entirely. Fans will have to wait and see.
