Ferragamo Highlights Chartreuse Accessories in 1920s-Inspired Milan Fashion Week Showcase

Published: September 28, 2025, 21:15 EDT

Ferragamo creative director Maximilian Davis returned to a familiar stage at Milan Fashion Week with a collection that balanced vintage elegance and modern energy. Presented in the courtyard of the brand’s Portrait Hotel—where Davis debuted three years ago—the show spotlighted bold accessories, seductive silhouettes, and nods to 1920s fashion.

Chartreuse Pops in a Refined Palette

The standout feature of the collection was a series of chartreuse bags and shoes, which contrasted with the darker tones of the garments. Mini pouches, clutches, and sculptural-heeled mules added vibrant accents, bringing a contemporary edge to the otherwise vintage-inspired looks.

The accessories served as both functional and aesthetic highlights, punctuating the runway with bold color choices that emphasized Ferragamo’s continued experimentation under Davis’ direction.

A Modern Take on the 1920s

Davis’ collection drew heavily from the 1920s era of flappers and speakeasies, blending slinky women’s eveningwear with structured menswear. Sheer chiffon dresses and form-fitting knits provided a daring touch, while men’s long jackets and broad-shouldered suits evoked the glamour of the Jazz Age.

Scarves tied around the lower backs of suits introduced a subtle sensuality, mirrored in similar styling for women’s dresses. A liberal use of fringe further reinforced the collection’s nostalgic references.

Balancing Elegance and Utility

Although rooted in vintage inspiration, the collection acknowledged practical needs. Vinyl overcoats offered protection against the light rain that threatened the outdoor show, while lightweight knits and silks maintained fluidity and movement.

The interplay of structure and softness gave the collection versatility, allowing pieces to function both as statement fashion and wearable design.

Footwear and Finishing Touches

Ferragamo’s footwear featured pointed mules with reverse sculptural heels, reinforcing the house’s reputation for innovative shoe design. The unusual geometry added an architectural element to otherwise fluid silhouettes.

Accessories—including the now-signature clutches and mini pouches—were deliberately scaled to enhance the lines of each look, with chartreuse emerging as the season’s defining color accent.

Front-Row Guests and Reception

Among those attending the show were Christy Turlington and Naomi Watts, underscoring Ferragamo’s continued draw for both fashion insiders and cultural icons. The collection was met with strong interest from critics and buyers, who noted Davis’ ability to merge archival references with contemporary relevance.

As Ferragamo continues to reshape its identity under Davis, this Milan presentation reinforced the brand’s commitment to heritage-driven innovation.

Outlook: Ferragamo’s Evolving Aesthetic

This latest co-ed showcase reflected Davis’ ongoing effort to balance Ferragamo’s craftsmanship legacy with fresh, modern perspectives. By combining Jazz Age inspiration with present-day tailoring and bold accessories, the brand signaled confidence in both its history and its future direction.

With Milan Fashion Week spotlighting diverse interpretations of heritage, Ferragamo’s embrace of 1920s motifs—and its use of chartreuse as a defining shade—placed it among the standout presentations of the season.
